Still itch.io deindexed all nsfw games
Edit: Okay so they now reindexed them.
Today, we are re-indexing free adult NSFW content. We are still in ongoing discussions with payment processors and will be re-introducing paid content slowly to ensure we can confidently support the widest range of creators in the long term.
Would you rather they had shut down because nobody is able to pay them anymore? They complied with the demands for the time being because they have a business to run - and then they immediately started looking for a solution.
I don't believe people fault itch.io or steam for what they did. You can be upset with an action and still understand why it was done. It's the same mental allowance you would give to someone if they agreed to cover your shift but the morning of their kid got sick and you had to come in anyway. Sure, you're upset but you also understand that someone would need to take care of their kid.
So we can be upset that NSFW games were delisted. But the other options would be them only getting paid through physically bought Steam and Itich.io gift cards.
Sure but simply saying "they still did X (oh wait they walked back part of X)" doesn't really sound understanding but accusatory.
I wonder why the payment processors went on the backfoot.

Shouldn't be their decision in the first place. Process the fucking payments, payment processors.
One of these moron payment companies is going to realize what's up sooner or later.
Patreon is for creators to do creative stuff professionally. Onlyfans tried to be the same thing. The only difference was they allowed NSFW stuff. Now guess which one pulls significantly more revenue?
If you become the payment processor for NSFW stuff, you can do whatever the hell you want and still be rolling in cash.
They just missed very old news about how games that depict illegal activities do not really cause people to do illegal activities. Therefore they can't be illegal themselves.
Plus, where do you draw the line?
Social media where users discuss illegal activities? Movies that depict illegal activities?
There are a lot of illegal activities in the bible.
I committed genocide in age of empires 2 yesterday, but lewd games is where I draw the line!

This time we chose the obviously bigger evil because "hehe funni, he mean but he funni."

I use my local bank for that.
Banks and payment processors are not the same thing though.
And yet I can pay directly from my bank account in the steam store.
Buying from steam I currently have the option of Mastercard or visa. They don't accept the other ways I have, and it's difficult for me to get the ones they accept.
As I understand it they are both doing it in coordination.

All data carriers, like ISPs, payment processors, email services, etc. should have NO control, nor even oversight or input, over the content of their transmission or the purposes thereof.
Imagine if all roads were privately own and they wanted to know every detail about those traveling on their roadways. Origin and destination, every detail about you, about your vehicle, what you have in your car, etc. And imagine they could decide that certain cars were allowed on their roads, you weren't allowed to use their roads to get to certain destinations, they get lobbied by bigots to not allow gays to drive on their roads, or people that have porn in their vehicle. There's no public alternative, and sometimes no private alternative, and even private alternatives do the exact same thing... if we wouldn't allow that sort of surveillance, interference, and autocratic control with or means of movement, why should we allow it with our means of trade.
Not to mention their little gaslighting memos they sent out trying to say it wasn't them that told them they wouldn't process those payments.
Jesus girl would side with the payment processor.
Damn, am I really going to have to start going to bank regularly, getting cash from the cashier, and boycotting card-only places.
Meh, I guess I've nowt better to with my time.
Try to find cash discounts too, so you don't subsidize other people's credit card usage.
