That’s like going full kamikaze, wrecking your opponent and somehow surviving the act.

What a woman.

Reminds me of the Paris woman who testified to her abuser. Was in tabloids. Called that monster out.

The strength it takes is awe inspiring.

I really loved how she was recognised pretty unanimously as the badass that she is. Society has a lot of deeply rooted problematic beliefs around sexual assault, but Gisèle Pélicot's bravery was a definite step towards unravelling those icky attitudes.

Why not release just his threats?

[–] Warl0k3@lemmy.world 25 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (5 children)

In that situation you're still admitting the threats have power over you; by releasing the photos yourself, you both out the person as fucking scum and demonstrate that their threat was completely impotent, delivering a one-two punch to the ego.

Still doesn’t stop them being used against you. If they’re published by “choice” I think that’s easier on the soul, if still painful.

[–] t_berium@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I don't get it, either. It's like being threatened to get shot and releasing the threat and shooting yourself.

[–] Karjalan@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That analogy only works if your nudes being out there hurts or at least bothers you. Maybe she doesn't care or planned to do it herself someday?

You take away all the power if you follow through with releasing them yourself.

[–] DrSoap@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago

You can see who he has been liking and viewing on social media. That would be my best guess.

Fumbled the bag. Life doesn't give you many options to sue the fuck outta someone and take em for all they're worth
