Ooo, so close. We were looking for Andy Capp's Hot Fries! Even better than the cheddar variety...

[–] other_cat@lemmy.zip 9 points 4 days ago (1 children)

To each their own! I am a wuss. ;)

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

They're honestly not crazy-spicy, just a good flavor!

[–] other_cat@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 days ago

I'll have to try them the next time I'm at the gas station then!

[–] UnpopularCrow@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Andy Capp use to have a version called “salsa fires” and they were the superior Andy Capp fry. But alas, they discontinued them many years ago.

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 3 points 3 days ago

Hey, I remember salsa fries! Those were really good, but I still prefer the Hot Fries...

Slim Jim’s. Don’t tell me what the real ingredients are; I don’t want to know. Leave me with this one last glimmer of happiness in my life.

Roasted unsalted cashews, pre-rinsed grapes off the vines. Shelled pistachios. Blueberries, if they don't have to sit in a hot car.

[–] jawa21@piefed.blahaj.zone 2 points 4 days ago

I can't be trusted around shelled pistachios. I will eat myself sick in no time.

[–] zipzoopaboop@lemmynsfw.com 8 points 4 days ago

Jerky. Lasts a little while, protein actually sticks around for the food/filling functionality of eating snacks

[–] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Those are so yummy!

When we road trip to breweries my gal makes up a "Snacklebox".

[–] other_cat@lemmy.zip 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Amazing. Props to your gal!

[–] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

She's a keeper. She brought up her 3 adult girls essentially on her own. Dick of a dad.

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 8 points 4 days ago

Holy shit this picture just brought back decades old nostalgia.

[–] AFKBRBChocolate@lemmy.ca 7 points 4 days ago

A good beef jerky is my go-to. Normally I'm a chocoholic, but chocolate isn't great as a road trip snack.

[–] Zombiepirate@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

[–] funbreaker@piefed.social 6 points 4 days ago

capt crunch is a clear fav though

[–] Stalinwolf@lemmy.ca 5 points 4 days ago

Garden Salsa Sun Chips.

[–] BeMoreCareful@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

I didn't know they made anything but hot fries.

Too messy for me. I'm a gummy bears and red bull car tripper.

[–] Zorsith@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 4 days ago

Jerky and extra toasty cheez its.

[–] DagwoodIII@piefed.social 4 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Ahh, the good old days, when a wife beating drunk was next to Dennis the Menace on every comic page.

[–] Almacca@aussie.zone 1 points 4 days ago

To be fair, the wife gave as good as she got. Domestic violence is high-larious dontyouknow.

[–] obinice@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago (2 children)

If Andy Capp actually had his own line of pub crisps like this mock up it would be hilarious, I'd have to try them 😂

I still read Andy Capp from time to time, used to see him in the Mirror but now I get him online!

[–] other_cat@lemmy.zip 12 points 4 days ago

This is real! Do they not have them where you are from?

Popcorn, preferably white cheddar.

Exclusively white cheddar.

[–] LovableSidekick@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

My favorite snack is also Value Size!

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Funyuns, donut sticks, and pecan twirls.

[–] other_cat@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 days ago

Funyuns are straight up addictive.

[–] aturtlesdream@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Pringles, licorice (stick variety like nibs) and some nuts usually cashews

[–] other_cat@lemmy.zip 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Mmm pringles. original or do you have a preferred flavor?

[–] aturtlesdream@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

Usually sour cream and onion is my go too

[–] Daze@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 days ago

The andy capp's are absolutely correct. Good girl

But even above that, for me it's specifically shredded beef jerky. Cheap, sits nicely in the car door handle, don't have to look to take a hit, can be enjoyed with coffee, 4 or 5 usually last the whole 16 hours. Can't be beaten.

[–] swagmoney@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

ooo one time i had some really buttery pretzel twists(?) idk the name or brand but they were so yummy

[–] Daze@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 days ago

Gotta be Dot's! If they were the well-seasoned type.

[–] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

For long trips, inevitably I'll down at least one coconut Red Bull and a packet of mini donuts. A concha if they have one of those stands with Bimbo pastries and sweets.

[–] dan69@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

Say good bye to a family sized bag of veggie-all chips..

[–] starlinguk@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Cheddars. Sadly they don't sell them in Germany.

[–] BonesOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

I can't find those here anymore, but they were AMAZING. They're insanely expensive on Amazon.

[–] Horsey@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago

[–] nutsack@lemmy.dbzer0.com -2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

i bring a poop tube like hikers use so that i can shit constantly

[–] Alexstarfire@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I wouldn't typically judge a person's snack choice, but I've reconcidered.

[–] nutsack@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 4 days ago

considerations are usually the problem
