“In other news, something happened in a mildly coincidental fashion, in a way that is not actually based in reality. Action News correspondent Karen Smithson has more.”

Grab a baby and use it as a shield!

Wait, is that what the real Annabelle looks like? Pfft!

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 24 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

It's just a Raggedy Ann doll.

[–] RagingRobot@lemmy.world 7 points 17 hours ago

LOL, yes, their "demonic" items in real life look like something you would buy at one of those pop-up Halloween stores in a mall.

[–] philophilsaurus@sh.itjust.works 7 points 18 hours ago

Yes, they took a lot of creative liberties with the movies.

The Guardian has sought a comment from Rivera’s family.

"Please leave us alone."

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

Should've tried ouija board to get a comment directly from the deceased.

The dude died suddenly in Gettysburg with the Annabelle doll while on the Devil's on the Run tour. This is so stupid, but one day it's gonna make an awesome horror movie.

I think wicked awesome would really sell it.

Lorraine Warren: "It's the doll, Ed. It's a beacon for other spirits."

Me: Burn it with FIRE!! 🔥🔥🔥

[–] El_Scapacabra@lemmy.zip 10 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Ed and Lorraine Warren were predatory charlatans. I don't even believe they believed any of this is real, they just played people for money and fame.

[–] crankyrebel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I love the paranormal, but in this case, and from what I have read about them, I have to agree. In the end, they got a sweet deal with movie rights, and such.

[–] El_Scapacabra@lemmy.zip 3 points 16 hours ago

I don't personally believe in any of it but I still watch some paranormal/paranormal adjacent content just because it is entertaining.

But any mention of the Warrens always sours the mood for me, they were such obvious parasitic douchebags. They really went out of their way to ruin people's lives just so they could make a quick buck.

[–] Bbbbbbbbbbb@lemmy.world 6 points 18 hours ago

Last i recall it was moved from its location to another, then the first location burned down.........

In a statement to the outlet, Francis Dutrow, the Adams county coroner, F confirmed that as of Tuesday afternoon, Rivera’s cause of death remains undetermined pending an autopsy.
[...]
The coroner’s office further added that Rivera’s death was not suspicious and that he was found alone in his hotel room, the Evening Sun reports.

[–] EtAl_isGitch@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

The doll was subsequently given over to the late ~~paranormal investigators~~ con artists Ed and Lorraine Warren who kept it in their occult museum based in Monroe, Connecticut.

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 1 points 3 hours ago

You forgot to put "museum" in quotes.

I can't wait for "The Last Podcast on the Left: Side Stories," that will arrive next week.

The Guardian, proving again and again that they are not a serious organization.
