We need age limits for all held positions, and term limits for congress.

[–] ryathal@sh.itjust.works 33 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

We should tie a mandatory government retirement age to Medicare or social security eligibility so there's some pressure to keep it below 80.

[–] NoForwardslashS@sopuli.xyz 35 points 6 hours ago

It's wild that people aren't expected to work at his age and in a lot of cases aren't allowed to drive anymore. But here is this decrepit old cunt steering the world backward into ruin.

Cognitive tests from a third party would be beneficial too.

[–] NJSpradlin@lemmy.world 13 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

I mean, the President and Executive have two separate and independent, third parties who are responsible for checks and balances against them, and look where that’s gotten us.

They’re all corruptible.

I think it would be great if we set the age limit to be tied to a percentage of the average expected lifespan of the country's citizens in some way. Setting a hard age limit wouldn't be adaptive enough.

It would incentivize them to pass legislation and regulations which help increase everyone's life expectancy. It would also somewhat help in the case of a future where some medical advances allow only those with enough money to have insanely increased lifespans.

Is Joe Biden in the room with us right now?

[–] punkwalrus@lemmy.world 28 points 5 hours ago

"Don't you think he looks tired?"

[–] rumimevlevi@lemmings.world 15 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

It's trump being stupid, nothing to do with his age

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 15 points 6 hours ago (2 children)
[–] rumimevlevi@lemmings.world 6 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

because it's been decades that he's been saying stupid things

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 12 points 5 hours ago

No. You’re wrong. Even as late as 2015 he was able to answer a question. What we’re unwilling witnesses to is his stupidity and serious cognitive decline.

[–] NJSpradlin@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Because one is trying to hamfist bias into a nothing situation. Guy dumb? Sure. But, are all dumb guys who do dumb things, doing dumb things at this moment because of our predisposed bias against that dumb guy? If a man from Florida does something awkward, is he a ‘Florida Man’? Or does ‘Florida Man’ require a certain level of ridiculous behavior?

[–] AmidFuror@fedia.io 10 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Commenter cognitively declined in front of world during comment.

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 1 points 4 hours ago

It's contagious.

[–] NJSpradlin@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

“Trump Bad”, but that’s not necessarily because of this incident though. This incident isn’t a good reflection of anything other than Trump is just being awkward Trump in front of a group and camera.

We need to separate “Trump Bad” from ‘everything dumb he says’, and keep our eyes and voices targeted toward his human rights violations, unconstitutional behavior and corruption.

Just because he’s ’Florida man’ sometimes, doesn’t mean everything he does is ‘Florida Man.’ Keep your eyes on the ball and don’t get roped into sensational headlines.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Oh. Sure. But we've already done all of this before. His cult's brainwashing will continue unabated throughout this term.

[–] iopq@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

Just ask them when Trump delivers the Epstein files

[–] Oyml77@lemmy.world 12 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

The next time Trump tells anyone to stop talking about Epstein, someone needs to tell him that he needs to shut the fuck up about Biden first. For fuck's sake.

[–] twistypencil@lemmy.world 5 points 1 hour ago

Whoever does this will be a hero

[–] Buffalox@lemmy.world 11 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

I don't see how anything he said shows he is declining?
Actually among all the bullshit he is letting out, this seems very coherent by comparison.

[–] PhilipTheBucket@ponder.cat 14 points 6 hours ago (3 children)

Seriously. “Esprit de corps”? Where the hell did he get that from? He blamed everything on Biden and it didn’t make any sense, but that’s not anything new, that’s what won him the election.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 8 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

The actual, literal quote speaks for itself

And I have to tell you, Europe has a lot of spirit for this war. A lot of people, you know, when I first got involved, I really didn't think they did, but they do. And I saw that a month ago when you were there, most of you many of you were there. The level of esprit de corps spirit that they have is amazing.

[–] lowleekun@ani.social 16 points 6 hours ago

Sounds like average Trump nonsense tbh. I agree he IS mentally declined but that had to have started ages ago.

[–] NJSpradlin@lemmy.world 9 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Having watched the video and even read the script… it just sounds like he’s in front of a group and camera, and filling the space conversationally. It’s awkward, it’s his dumb speech patterns, but it doesn’t scream at me or stand out for being belligerent or worse than anything else. This one is a nothing burger.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 7 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Only because we keep lowering the bar for him. We disqualified Howard Dean because he screamed funny....

[–] NJSpradlin@lemmy.world 5 points 4 hours ago

This shouldn’t be a bar lowering item to begin with. These or dumb human things, which we all are or do sometimes. The words here really shouldn’t be worth pointing at the guy and laughing about. It’s barely worth me even saying anything about here. Only slightly more worth my time is seeing if I can snap 1 or 2 people out of stooping so low to mock the guy for being human… that they’re missing more important and glaring issues.

[–] rumimevlevi@lemmings.world 5 points 6 hours ago

This only show how stupid he is like he always been. Nothing to do with his age

[–] Onyxonblack@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 hour ago

Sounds like someone was playing Disco Elysium.

[–] QuarterSwede@lemmy.world 1 points 9 minutes ago

Agreed. Same rambling as always.

[–] Bluefalcon@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 2 hours ago

I get actual reporting can be boring and dull. That doesn't mean we have to start our own newmax or breitbart. It will be only a matter of time until we get some crazy ass left wing nut as a result.

Defeating lies/exaggerations can only be done with knowledge and truth. Please do better with the news sources. This feels more like AI left-wing grifters.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 6 points 6 hours ago

tfw anyone needs to be convinced he's demented

[–] SaltySalamander@fedia.io 5 points 2 hours ago

A nothingburger of an "article" partially locked behind a paywall.
