That didn't happen.
And if it did, it wasn't that bad.
And if it was, that's not a big deal.
And if it is, that's not my fault.
And if it was, I didn't mean it.
And if I did, you deserved it.

Edit: Just remembered someone made these "business cards" the first time jackass was in the office.

Probably his own daughter

Probably still is

Everybody remembers how Trump bragged about his long friendship with Epstein, built on their mutual thirst for modelesque women and that Trump thought it was chuckle-worthy how Epstein liked them on the young side.

Everybody also remembers Trump bragging about walking in on underage beauty pageant contestants in their dressing rooms. And that he'd "date" Ivanka if she wasn't his daughter. 🤮

His supporters don't care, they love anything their Troll King does as long as it pisses off liberals.

collapsed inline media
The top post on r/conservative today is Trump's response. 14k upvotes is a lot for the sub on a random day.

Some signs of intelligent life in the comments, but not many.

Time will tell if this is the issue that best shows the cracks in MAGA.

[–] FooBarrington@lemmy.world 20 points 8 hours ago

Give them 3 days, they'll fall in line. They always do.

[–] Gorilladrums@lemmy.world 10 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

Upvotes/downvotes on that sub don't mean a lot because it's always heavily brigaded, however, what's of interest is the actual content that's posted on there. r/conservative is one of the most heavily censored and propaganda driven subs on Reddit, and so anything posted on there has to be approved by the cult.

They usually kiss Trump's ass on EVERYTHING he does:

  • Egg prices gone up?

  • Failed to end the war in Ukraine in 24 hours?

  • Started a war with Iran despite saying he wouldn't start a new war?

  • Arrested and deported US citizens?

  • Opened up national parks for logging and development?

  • Cut healthcare coverage for millions of Americans?

  • Wasted millions of taxpayer dollars on a pointless military parade to celebrate his birthday?

  • Threatened to annex Canada, Greenland, and Panama?

  • Increased the deficit by trillions of dollars?

  • Brainlessly placing tariffs and ruining the country alliances?

  • Building literal concentration camps?

All fine and dandy. Their cope answer to all of these was and still is "It's a joke, and if it's not then who cares, it's probably a good thing."

But this? This actually ruffled some feathers. They're actually mad at him for once, and the anger seems real. I've never seen that sub so riled up against their cult king before. It's not just this sub, if you go to:

patriots.win (the_donald's successor), you'll see the same thing.

Fox News Youtube comment section, same thing.

Newsmax Instagram comment section, same thing.

Breitbart's comment sections on articles, same thing.

I think this is different than the other times because this has been the apex of right wing conspiracies for over a decade. A lot of the modern right hinges on conspiracies about the powerful trafficking and raping kids. From pizzagate to Qanon to now this, and now that they actually have something of substance... the most vocal, central, and important figure to the right has contradicted himself, his campaign, his movement, and his ideology. The cracks are finally showing in cult.

[–] Notyou@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 hour ago

If the DNC was a party of opposition they would hammer the Epstein files and all the false promises of releasing 'files on my desk.'

They won't, but this could crack the maga cult. Between this and all his recent craziness, I've had trump supporters (family, I still try to talk to them) say they are just over all of it. They think it's a both sides, and everyone is lying type of issue.

They don't have to go across the isle and vote. They just have to not be motivated to vote for fascist. This is assuming voting works in the future. 😂 Fascist don't leave peacefully though.... We might need the crazy gun nuts that were wronged by the pedo in chief.

[–] null@slrpnk.net 3 points 6 hours ago

I wouldn't call them intelligent, but the overwhelming consensus in that thread is that they're super angry at Trump.

It's a full-on MAGA crash-out in there.

Upvotes don’t necessarily mean people agree, but that they believe it’s important info to share

We have never been at war with EastAsia.

[–] ironhydroxide@sh.itjust.works 26 points 19 hours ago

We have always been at war with East Asia.

[–] WoodScientist@sh.itjust.works 49 points 18 hours ago

To be a Republican is to be a lying, cheating snake with no morals or ethics. To be a Republican is to be a profoundly wicked person who takes joy in the suffering of others. If you are a Republican, you are fundamentally a bad person. The world will be better off when you are gone.

[–] WatDabney@fedia.io 33 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

I'm assuming that the original plan was to excise all mentions of Trump (and possibly of his most loyal cronies), then at least threaten to release everything left (I'm not convinced that Trump really would release it, since it would be more in his nature to hold the threat of releasing it over people's heads in order to extort submission and/or cash out of them).

But then it fell through, most likely because among the data that Musk stole during his tenure was the originals of everything they intended to release, so his threat to expose Trump is credible enough that Trump decided the better course of action was to tell the faithful that none of it ever existed in the first place in order to head off Musk.

[–] PunnyName@lemmy.world 8 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

And then people can make up bullshit like "it's AI".

[–] WatDabney@fedia.io 9 points 20 hours ago

Exactly.

Trump knows that all he has to do is tell his mindless drones something, and then they'll figure out the necessary details and evasions and lies with which they'll determinedly pretend it's true.

[–] rottingleaf@lemmy.world 3 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Musk is doing a foolish thing not outright releasing them. All that teasing and promising depends on trust into campaign promises, and that has dried out mostly.

He should just let the missiles out. Then still be alive for the aftermath (the next election).

[–] BeardedBlaze@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

Could be holding off until closer to the election

[–] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 32 points 11 hours ago

Oh I don't know, it's info on a big sex trafficking pedo group, who wouldn't give a fuck? Conservatives, apparently.

[–] bytesonbike@discuss.online 25 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

It's wild how much denial I'm seeing.

They are already using their strongest super power, mental gymnastics lol

[–] crankyrebel@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 22 hours ago (3 children)

Tribal brainwashing. I have seen it on the left (corporate democrats) and the right with maga. If only we could all see the real monsters in hiding, the powerful oligarchs and their corporations.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 34 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Corporate Democrats are center at best

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 65 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Corporate democrats are moderate right-wing at best.

[–] youCanCallMeDragon@lemmy.world 39 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

This. I hear people complain about the “far left” when the Democratic Party is at best center-right. The entire left side of the political spectrum isn’t even an option in this country.

[–] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 5 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Thats why I get downvoted for saying if I got in office as president, Day 1, universal health care, universal basic income, everyone gets manditory free vaccines, and everybody gets slapped in the face.

People just think it's a bad idea for some reason.

[–] youCanCallMeDragon@lemmy.world 7 points 19 hours ago

Maybe because you lost your mind. Funny thing is this would put you center-left. Super authoritarian, but left of center. Try moving essential goods and services to the public sector and then we’re talking.

[–] Asfalttikyntaja@sopuli.xyz 5 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

As an European citizen I always laugh when US citizens call their democrat's “leftist”. You poor thing don’t even know what that means.

[–] youCanCallMeDragon@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago

Most Americans don’t even know what capitalism is. They think it’s synonymous with commerce because that’s what we’re taught.

[–] Stanley_Pain@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 21 hours ago

I hate how us politics skews the entire left right political ideology spectrum.

Like all they have is conservatives.

[–] kayakdaddy@lemmy.world 9 points 19 hours ago

Conservative in a sane country.

[–] Truthtwopower@lemmy.zip 6 points 21 hours ago* (last edited 21 hours ago)

I feel like putting it this way sane washes how significant of an issue it is on the right. It's dishonest.

[–] saltesc@lemmy.world 3 points 21 hours ago

Tribalism will tear us apart-... No, wait... You know what I mean.

It's the sense of belonging that's ironic. The kind of stuff Charlie Manson would work with. In the end the pursuit of inclusion isolates us to camp versus camp; prehistoric human nature didn't just go away now we have civilisation. Its 'more normal that people exercise it by pigeonholing themselves into groups like gender stereotypes or Hogwarts houses, maybe a sports team. Whatever gives them a sense of being something with kin, but not actually going too far.

This? This is going too far, but they won't bail until they feel accepted into another camp. That's what it's actually all about.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 14 points 17 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

Republicans kill Americans, and anyone else they can. That's their entire party plank.

[–] matlag@sh.itjust.works 14 points 18 hours ago

Come on! We have ALWAYS been at war with Eastasia!

[–] sunglocto@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

Donald Trump said in 2002 that Jeffrey Epstein was a "terrific guy," and added, "It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side."

Anyone who still has their cerebral cortex needs to stop protecting Trump immediately.

[–] CaptnNMorgan@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

When was Epstein caught the first time? Was this after that?

[–] Adulated_Aspersion@lemmy.world 10 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

"The Party said that Oceania had never been in alliance with Eurasia. He, Winston Smith, knew that Oceania had been in alliance with Eurasia as short a time as four years ago. But where did that knowledge exist?"

[–] burgerpocalyse@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

where is obriens client list

[–] BigTurkeyLove@lemmy.world 8 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

But Hilary Clinton's emails....

[–] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 2 points 11 hours ago

Even better, the pizzagate was about a supposed pedo ring, but to them pedophiles are only bad when it suits them.

[–] carlossurf@lemmy.ca 7 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

There is no war in basinsey

[–] 21Cabbage@lemmynsfw.com -1 points 21 hours ago

I mean to an extent a list of everybody the guy interacted with isn't that huge of a deal. Think about it from the other side, if you were the ringleader of that kind of operation it would be in order to interact with people other than pedophiles so if they were the ones to get caught first the investigation doesn't immediately go to "oh the only people this guy ever interacted with are sex offenders". Plus on the practicality side, pedophiles aren't that huge a portion of the population, it'd be hard to fill an address book with just those even if there wasn't an adversarial aspect in the form of law enforcement.
