"There are two things that I hate about the immigrants", said the random dingdong in one breath, "first of all, they're not doing any work, and second of all, they take all of our jobs."

...I heard this joke in the 1980s. The dingdongs haven't gotten any less self-contradictory.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago

That was when your dingdongs were local. They got their own news channel in 94 and it's been a shit luge to helltown ever since.

And when they finally succeed in kicking the foreigners out, they wonder why their cheap labor isn't showing up and their business is now in trouble, but would vote for it again!

To fascists, hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance are features, not bugs.

"Never believe that ~~anti-Semites~~ fascists are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The ~~anti-Semites~~ have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past."

Jean-Paul Sartre

Glad I’m starting to see Sartre here. Marxist humanism as a topic, along with all of Sartre, is a must read.

funny thing they arnt really raiding the large corporate farms, and food plants. because you know gop will go up in arms if they did this in a super red area.

[–] Petter1@lemm.ee 2 points 9 hours ago

(Blue states vs red states) ICE is targeting blue states, crops are made in red states.

Trump wants chaos, he wants special rule over military, he wants to imprison all lefty thinkers, he wants to escalate the situation,

he wants civil war.

"Because they're stealing our jobs! Duh!"

[–] klu9@piefed.social 11 points 1 day ago

Ahem, I believe it's "jerbs".

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

"So you're willing to pick crops for less than minimum wage in the hot summer sun?"

[–] Thistlewick@lemmynsfw.com 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

As if the next step in the plan isn’t reinstating “state’s rights”…

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

They already have, slavery is alive and well on prison farms.

[–] DeathsEmbrace@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago (4 children)

The real question is why hasnt ice raided elon musk? Hes literally everything they hate about immigrants and trump loved him at one point?

[–] potoo22@programming.dev 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They're at in impasse. He's an immigrant, but he's also rich. They're drawing the line at rich AND donates to Democrats. Then he's out.

[–] DeathsEmbrace@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Except he got rich illegally and technically stole billions from hard working Americans again why hasn't ice done shit?

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago

Ever heard the phrase "having fuck-you money"?

This is having "fuck-errybody" money.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

They want more of his money and social media juice.

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Why do you think he's everything they hate about immigrants? Are you not aware that he's white?

[–] DeathsEmbrace@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Someone mentioned immigrants from UK and Europe. You have no idea how racist the USA can be even to white people. Check the history books it's just hypocritical to think it only affected colored people because they were already marginalized communities.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 3 points 1 day ago

trump made an exception for th h1b visa holders.

[–] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 21 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Let's not forget, if they arrested even a handful of employers the rest would stop hiring tomorrow. No jobs, no immigrants.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

dont even need to go that far, just do what florida did recently, by issuing ID checks for verifying immigrant/migrants, most of them vanished from the states. i also havnt heard in quite a while if florida reversed thier decision.

"Because they're brown Beaver ... that's why ... which reminds me ... beavers are brown .. I'd better tell mom and dad."

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 points 1 day ago

Smells like seven layers.

[–] Vandals_handle@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago

Ward, don't you think you're being a bit hard on the Beaver?

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 12 points 1 day ago

Thus, by a continuous shifting of rhetorical focus, the enemies are at the same time too strong and too weak.

[–] ChickenLadyLovesLife@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

"Mom told me to never speak with my mouth open."

[–] Bonus@piefed.social 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This is the way.

[–] jawa22@lemmy.blahaj.zone -2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It is worded that way because MAGA sincerely believes people are getting government benefits illegally en masse.

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

maga projection, because most of them are on welfare, plus the agricultural/farm are on welfare too.
