Alarm is the hypnotoad sound. No ringtones for calls, just vibration.

I use a 14400 baud handshake.
Just saw your comment after I left time with the same thing haha
I made my own from scratch at one point. Perks of being a sound designer lol.
After replacing most of my mid-high frequency hearing (starting from 1000Hz and nosediving thereafter) with tinnitus - no tone, just vibration. Rattling away in the cradle does the job.
On the bright side, I am rarely woken or kept awake by noise.
On the bright side, I am rarely woken or kept awake by noise.
I almost wish I had tinnitus then because I'm woken up by any one of my four roommates opening and closing doors or the construction a block away that starts at 7am on the dot.
Roomies are temporary, but the scree in your ears is forever. I've adapted - it has been my unwanted yet constant companion for decades.
Others can mentally struggle with it, especially if onset is sudden and permanent from otherwise normal hearing. Fairly high up the symptom list for brain tumours as well, so that's just swell for new sufferers that now need their head inspected.
Protect your ears, kids. We only get two and they're very easy to damage in today's noisy world.

The first sound gives me a heart attack now
Damn, thats not bad.
Rooster alarm. Only thing that wakes me up without pissing me off.
For a while I had Willem Dafoe's "Haaaark! Hark, Triton" speech from The Lighthouse as my wake-up alarm. After a couple glorious weeks of startling awake to the curses of a crazed lighthouse keeper, my partner used the marital veto and I changed it back to the default gentle jingle. Haven't messed with it since.
I sampled Beastie Boys - Get it Together. The break where Q-Tip says, "Phone is ringing...oh my god", and then a little part of chorus after that "get it together...see what's happening" looped.
The acoustic guitar riff from Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Piezo.
Wakes up quickly.
It’s funny how, back in the day, getting a new phone meant immediately going through all the ringtones to pick the one you liked best. Nowadays, most people - myself included - just leave it on the default. I honestly can’t remember the last time I changed a ringtone or message tone. I might have on my old Nokia N73, but not since. The alarm tone I do change, though - I don’t need to be screamed at first thing in the morning. Just the vibration alone is enough to wake me up.
That said, I’ve actually been considering changing the ringtones for both of my SIM cards. Apparently everyone here has a Samsung, and nobody seems to change their ringtone - so every time I’m at the hardware store and a phone rings, you get like seven builders all pulling out their phones at once. Since I don’t particularly enjoy talking on the phone, every time I hear my ringtone - even if it’s from someone else’s phone - it gives me this little PTSD flash.
BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP
works every time.
Birdsong. Sometimes I genuinely can’t tell if it’s real birds or I snoozed my alarm - this morning it was real birds.
Talk radio station. Starts at low volume and builds up slowly. Calm voices are the most relaxed sound to wake up to. Tried all sorts of other sounds and they're all too abrasive to wake up to.
My alarm is the spiderman pizza theme earrape version
Its less about being so loud it wakes me up (but it's one of the reason), its more of I don't want to bother my sibling sleeping next to me.
Always gets me up to turn it off, and now i get ptsd just hearing the pizza theme normally. Like increased heart rate, the urge to mute or turn it off, idk wtf happened but i will have a weird reaction just hearing it normally in a youtube video and instantly closing the video
Shower scene theme from psycho. The idea was it would be shocking enough to wake me up every time. After some years it doesn't work anymore but it's still annoying enough to force my brain to wake up and turn it off (eventually).
Android (Pixel 8) says the name of the alarm I have chosen is "Rad Morning."
I’m just kinda stuck on whether there is an option to play a non-specific ringtone.
Hello Goodbye ringtone chime for 20+ yrs solid now. Target tried to make it theirs for a quick min but that was short lived.
Southwest Airlines "Fasten your seatbelt" chime
I have my alarm set to Good Morning Jazz playlist via Spotify.
I prefer it over most other alarms since it's less abrupt.
I also have a smart lamp set to turn on at the same time. It slowly gets brighter at a set schedule.
A cuckoo bird that gradually increases in volume.
I used to have Buddha Bar - Solitude as my alarm, but after a month or so I found myself associating it with waking up and it lost its calming effect on my morning. I've since resorted back to whatever my phone defaults to for minimum damage to sounds I like.
Love this dude
My alarm is just the default android one, but my text tone is the windows XP fatal error sound.
I was using the Dragonzord "flute" for a while but switched to the siren from Silent Hill. My partner hates both but if I need a wake-up alarm I need it to flood my body with panic adrenaline.
Phone is on silent 100%.
My calendar notification yells "BINGLYBINGLYBINGLYBLEEP" and my ringtone is Reynolds and Farrell singing Grace Kelly. Text notification is the old HTC one. I've noticed I'm not the only one who still uses that one.
Avengers theme ring tone. Captain America theme alarm.
The discord ringtone special remix
Ringtone is some random one on the phone that is not default. I used to have the default but changed it after confusing someone else's for mine.
I love and use the Unsolved Mysteries intro song for calls, and a generic one from my phone for alarms.
