Protestors gathered on the other side of the police tape, shouting at officers and questioning why Minneapolis police — whose leaders swore wouldn’t assist federal agencies in civil immigration enforcement — stood alongside ICE agents as officers searched the building.
Five years ago, this stretch of Lake Street was filled with protestors, who clashed with police following the murder of George Floyd. Today, protestors tossed traffic cones and trash cans in the way of law enforcement vehicles as they drove away from the scene, and shouted at the officers to go home, or quit their jobs.

"Officers wearing the uniforms of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, Minneapolis Police Department, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, the FBI, and the criminal investigation arm of the IRS surrounded Las Cuatro Milpas on East Lake Street."
Wanna talk about government waste... 6 agencies? It was a restaurant, not a fort. You have one agency secure the place. That way they follow the same procedures and don't hurt each other. Then if needed a specialist like the IRS guy goes in. You might have 1 ICE officer there to determine if anyone should be detained or something. But you don't need fully armed ICE shock troops at all.
The whole thing reeks. That's a lot of federal agencies, and more importantly I would like Walz to weigh in on why ICE was operating in his state. I'm sure he wasn't informed. And I'm sure he won't like the answers he is given.
He can't stop them from operating in his state. He can order agencies under his control not to actively assist. But thats about it.
It's utterly ridiculous these clowns are geared up like they're deployed to Afghanistan or something. It's all cosplay, they've been waiting for their day to wear it, and it shows they are eager to take away the rights of anyone who disagrees or stands in the way.
Like what good does green camouflage like that even do in an urban setting. They think they're kicking in the door of Osama bin laden or something. And to have multiple armored vehicles like that, it's all optics, like little dick syndrome endorsed by the military. Bunch of cowards.
Fascism at it's core is just cosplaying authoritarianism. As soon as they have to do any actual governance they whine about how boring it is.
If ICE is there, it doesn't matter what they are "investigating." They are going to do something that violates human rights.
I've warned my family, that if I ever see ICE vehicles or personnel, I will personally stand in the way of those vehicles leaving with anyone detained. If I get arrested, I'll still see my day in court. That's more than I can say for whoever ends up in ICE custody. If I get run over? That ought to wake more people up.
The way things are going, we're either going to die by famine, disease, or political violence. And I don't plan to make their jobs easy.
If a nerdy ass WASP will stand up for his neighbor, then hopefully my other neighbors will too.
If ICE can operate this openly in Minneapolis, then they will operate anywhere.
Edit: to add, if this agent needs to wear a mask to protect his identity - he is doing something wrong.
ICE agents often seem to wear masks. Could it be because they're cowards?
According the feds, it was an investigation into money laundering and drugs.
Still. Fuck gestapo stormtroopers.
With the presence of ICE, I'm not sure I completely believe their reasons in the first place.
Me neither.
Though they could just be hoping for a reason to declare someone "illegal" and snap them up. And if the other agencies don''t like the confusion... maybe don't work with fucking gestapo stormtroopers.
That's exactly what their MO is. All of the Venezuelans they shipped to El Salvador were supposedly participating in criminal activities, which of course did not need to be proven if there was no due process.
All they need to do is make the claim that someone or another is participating in these criminal activities and disappear them as well.
Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a legal resident of the US, is still in an El Salvador prison and was never charged with a crime.
Press 'X' to doubt.
The feds say a lot of things.
