I look forward to the day I never hear about this guy again.

What's shameful is Spotify is still allowing some of Andrew Tate's content. If you have a Spotify account please consider contacting Spotify and send them a message saying you want Andrew Tate completely removed, want Spotify to stop funding Joe Rogan and demand a feature to block podcasts the same way you can block artists for songs. Also maybe consider ending your Spotify subscription. When you cancel your subscription you will be prompted to explain why you're canceling. It's crucial to fill you the reason. Say you're canceling because you don't like Andrew Tate and Joe Rogan.

Mate this is brilliant! I had no idea. Can I share your comment?

Also congratulations on your downvotes! You're annoying the right people

[–] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 31 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I always wonder if the people silently downvoting helpful comments like that know their downvotes are technically public, like anything you post on lemmy, if you’re using the right tool to look at a post.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to do callouts over it or even block people over a single downvote; god knows I fat finger upvotes all the time, and the only reason I don’t do the same for downvotes is Blahaj has them turned off. But boy does it validate my blocking instincts when I peek and it’s someone I’ve already blocked.

Great thanks 😊

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 40 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Doing your username proud.

My only regret is that I can't boycott Spotify again.

[–] 474D@lemmy.world 13 points 1 week ago

I went the next step and use xmanager to basically pirate premium Spotify, so now I'm also costing them money.

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 25 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I know it's not for everyone, but for me I feel like buying music I like directly from the artist/label or via bandcamp has been a better experience. Now I have a library of DRM free music, and I know the musicians got a better cut.

[–] BoycottPro@lemm.ee 12 points 1 week ago

Totally agree here, another good reason to cancel your Spotify account.

[–] Kecessa@sh.itjust.works 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They also host Peterson so I don't think they care

[–] auraithx@lemmy.dbzer0.com 14 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

They’re fine with being a wanker and misinformation but they’ll draw the line at trafficking children for rape and sex work….maybe. If you apply some pressure.

[–] Senal@programming.dev 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Spotify paid ridiculous sums of money, specifically to get Joe Rogan.

They absolutely do not care about complaints about tate.

Not to say you shouldn't try, you should, just that it's screaming into the void until the monetary price of continuing support is greater than at least some combination of sunk cost + potential profit. ( so $250m + whatever their profit projections are ).

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I think they will care about complaints of convicted human traffickers.

But I agree they're not getting rid of Rogan.

[–] Senal@programming.dev 4 points 1 week ago (4 children)

I think they will care about complaints of convicted human traffickers.

I would lay money on them not giving a single solitary fuck unless it affects their bottom line somehow.

Twenty-one offenses? Come on, Andrew Taint is more offensive than that!

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 16 points 1 week ago

Don't worry, he can still be president with a record like that!

🤢🤮

[–] Olgratin_Magmatoe@slrpnk.net 44 points 1 week ago

I'm sick of seeing his name.

[–] Flatfire@lemmy.ca 35 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Unfortunately I believe both of them are currently in Romania/US at the moment. The UK may have brought charges against them, but they seem to have pretty much escaped prosecution in Romania and have found Asylum in the US under the current government. It's unlikely that either Tates step back into the UK.

[–] LadyButterfly@lazysoci.al 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yep US will likely protect him. Good news is that there's no statute of limitations on these crimes so they'll never go away.

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I don't think they're still in the US.

[–] Eatspancakes84@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Isn’t there a warrant for their arrest in Florida? I believe they were there for two nights and on one of these nights he raped someone. I think he went back to Romania to escape US jail.

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago

I don't know much about them.

From reading headlines here on Lemmy I know the Florida governor was threatening charges but IDK what really happened. My impression was that they were expecting support from the Trump admin but it didn't really materialise and the US wasn't the safe harbour they had hoped for.

[–] LadyButterfly@lazysoci.al 3 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Other commenter said they may have asylum there, and last news I can find in Feb says they're there. Only had a quick look though

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah I'm not an expert on the Tate brothers and I'm not going to search them up.

IIRC they were in Romania and when the Trump admin landed in January the brothers some how got special leave to travel on the proviso they returned for their hearings later. They went to Florida thinking that they would get looked after by the Trump admin, but it didn't go very well and the governor of Florida was threatening charges in the US.

So to my knowledge there was no formal "asylum" but they were banking on their ideology aligning with Trumps.

Apologies, I didn't mean the legal definition of pf Asylum. The Tate brothers are both American citizens, but they're definitely leaning on the current political climate in the US to avoid consequences

Actually I believe I saw recently that Romania agreed to extradite them to the UK. I don't remember the source though, so take that with a grain of salt.

US about to declare war on the UK to protect their own shitstain

[–] BetaBlake@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

He's a citizen of both countries, he's as much British as he is American.

[–] Phoenicianpirate@lemm.ee 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How is this motherfucker not serving prison time already?

[–] SulaymanF@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Because Trump pressured Romania to let him out and he fled the country. Now a different court has to start all over with a different case.

Edit: the article says he returned to Romania to face the charges, as a show of bravado to claim that innocent men don’t run. The UK prosecution said "the domestic criminal matters in Romania must be settled first".

[–] Zenith@lemm.ee 3 points 1 week ago

Romanian prison is basically like not being in jail in a lot of ways, they’re allowed to have their phones and full internet access, they’re can come and go under specific charges etc

[–] Harvey656@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They returned to Romania in March 2025, telling reporters that "innocent men don't run from anything".

Lol.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 9 points 6 days ago (1 children)

10 bucks say that when he gets convicted, he'll just claim it was all lies and that he's a poor innocent sweetie being locked up under false pretenses

This piece of shit should never get out of jail.

[–] TimewornTraveler@lemm.ee 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Can anyone tell me more about the Crown Prosecution Service, and UK criminal courts in general?

Tap for spoilerI try not to get hopeful about this stuff, knowing that he'd be getting a pardon if it were an American court... thankful it's not, but I hope UK has better processes...

[–] LadyButterfly@lazysoci.al 3 points 1 week ago (5 children)

Yes mate, any specific questions?

[–] bollybing@lemmynsfw.com 3 points 1 week ago (3 children)

On a scale of 1-10, how hard did you find Lady Butterfly to beat for the first time?

Bro the world was so much better when he became irrelevant after he got bagged, then adolescence came out (great show btw) and people started mentioning his name again, for no FUCKING reason, the 12 y/o boy in the tv show got bagged for murder not fucking human trafficking or rape, genuinely absolutely no human being of any value wanted to hear his name uttered again (ik it tackled the issues of mysoginy and reh teh teh but genuinely everyone stopped caring about him)

He's a pathetic little attention whore and it's never been more evident since he fell back into obscurity he's been so desperately doing increasingly more pathetic things for even a fraction of the attention he used to get. The clips that have surfaced of him in the past year or so are so cringe and embarrassing, cuz he's trynna gain attention and failing, making it even more embarassing.

His name got rinsed by social media and then everyone forgot about him. This bruddas more whorish than any woman he's ever referred to.

“Rape, and actual bodily harm” wtf UK rape is actual bodily harm… the language choices around sexual assault in the UK is so problematic

[–] LadyButterfly@lazysoci.al 10 points 1 week ago

I know it's a bizarre phrase. ABH is a physical assault its not sexual.
