Unless there's someone to work on the actual emulation layer, yet another Yuzu fork won't help anything.

Since then, Citron has focused more on closing its community, requiring users to prove they have a modded Switch to unlock certain features.

Unfortunately, this is a Nintendo lawsuit thing
Thanks android authority for putting this shit on blast. Nothing like keeping this quiet
Considering they have a public website and repo on GitHub for the project, it's not like Nintendo doesn't know about them.
The download link returns a 404, is it already down?
I think it's all a placeholder still. Blogs missing for instance.
oooh vaporwave
And what's gonna keep this one from getting taken down by Nintendo?
The time needed to build a lawsuit, usually about six to ten months
I would guess that it would be forced to be taken down immediately, and then litigation would determine whether it can be put back up.
Unlike Ryujinx they should try to have redundancies in case of Team members leaving and be willing to boot and ostracize members who attempt to sabotage the project. The other piece would be to either develop from regions where Nintendo has no legal leverage, or try to stay safe with cleanroom and PR techniques (losing battle since the USA is crooked when it comes to IP and freedom).
Also hey it's the other NEO of Lemmy.
hopefully they don't start a patreon like the other devs.
Exactly.
Is there a Patreon with crypto? Lol
Same thing that's kept all the other emulators from being taken down: not being illegal.
The actual answer to that question is that the Switch 2 will be out soon. Nintendo doesn't actually want to go to court over emulators, because there's a real chance they lose. They were willing to push the devs with Switch emulators though, because that's the current console generation, and that REALLY pissed them off. They've basically accepted that emulators are inevitable even if they don't like it, but emulating the console they are currently releasing new games for was a step too far as far as they're concerned.
Can't wait for the Switch 2 emulator so I don't have to support nintendo's bad decisions but still play games day 1.
Fair, but also the Switch 2 has some backwards compatibility to Switch games. So they may still have an interest despite Switch 2 being out to prevent games that could still be sold on Switch 2 to be emulated via this.
Get it before the authors get sued into the afterlife by Nintendo!
That was fast.

If I had a modded Switch, wouldn't I just fucking use that?
Maybe you want higher resolution or higher frame rates than the switch can do
I have an unpatchable switch 1, its shit compared to running the games on PC in higher res at 60fps. Also the battery life sucks ass so I can't play on the go for long enough.
Precisely. So why lock certain features of the emulator behind a paywall?
Eden
And it'll be nuked the moment it announces its existence publicly.
