Yeah, I know doordash isn’t a smart move but I fucked up my ankle and this will last me a few days.

I am almost 100% sure that before I clicked on Wingstop and added things to my cart that delivery fees were listed on the page, and that Wingstop was listed as having no fee.

However, once I got to check out I noticed the fee. When I returned to the home page, all of the delivery prices were hidden.

This is such a shitty and shady company.

Why not order from a restaurant that delivers, cut out the middle-man!

[–] acockworkorange@mander.xyz 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, I started doing that and found out most restaurants will use doordash to deliver anyway.

This happened to me recently ordering stuff directly from a company. The package arrived in an Amazon box.

I go and look up the place I am searching for on Google Maps, see if it has a direct website / ordering system and always prioritise going direct if I can. Many now do, and by and large they have lower fees / lower minimum values since they don’t pay such a high premium for the platform.

I was browsing AliExpress today and the prices like. Change. All the time. It’s wild

Aliexpress will usually display the lowest price out of all the options under a listing. It'll show the wrong picture for it though. So, say you're searching for a 32oz pitcher and there's a listing with options that go from 64oz down to 8oz. It'll display the picture for the one you're searching for but since the price for the smaller one is lower, it'll show you that price to get you to click. Or if you're looking for a mop with a bucket but the listing also has replacement pads under it for the mop, you can get the picture of the mop with the price for the pads. The prices for the individual options stays firm though (within reason, let's say a single day of browsing).

My experience was a bit different. I understand what you mean about the multiple products in a listing. When I would view the price on the search results page and then click into the listing it would change (often increase) when choosing product options

I was able to replicate it by searching for “instant camera thermal”. Trying to upload screen recording here but not working rn

Having delivered for DoorDash and been a customer previously, I can confirm they are 100% evil

These places have so many other "fees" that they tack on randomly 😮‍💨

Record your screen next time you plan on an order. That way you'll be positive.

It says free delivery on $30+ orders. Your subtotal was less than that

edit: my bad, that's free item on 30+
