And the state executing a convicted criminal doesn't mean it's an inherently fascist action. Perhaps you could make the argument if you're an anarchist or coming at it from that angle, but I'd disagree.

a mass killer can also be stopped by putting them in jail, and even better if they get therapy so they can rejoin society as a better person

I am against execution as well, but I believe treason is still a hanging offense, and he's obviously treasonous.
