it's the easiest tool to use to get the honey out of the jar and into your mug for tea. i got mine at the farmer's market because local honey is thicker than store honey, but even stores that sell local honey don't sell these. highly recommend one if you've never seen one. it makes making tea so much easier
Y’know they sell honey in squeezable bottles like ketchup and other condiments, right? This stupid wooden barrel on a stick solution seems like a recipe for a sticky mess. Also, do you just leave it in the jar, making it impossible to put the lid back on? Take it out, covered in honey, and wash it for later?
My disdain for bad tools is irrational, I know.
Edit: Squeeze honey is not honey. BUT! I’d still pour it out of its jar and into a squeezable container because once you’ve squeezed, you’ll wonder how you’ve gotten on this long without it.
You should have more disdain for that low quality ass honey in a squeeze bottle. You should try local honey, it'll change your life and then you'll find yourself buying these dumbass barrels on a stick.
disclaimer: I have not tried a dipper
but I do use spoons and even butter knives for honey, and it works fine. well, even. and I'm somebody who likes efficiency and effectiveness in most things. I can't see why I would want one of these, even after reading all the comments about the pros.
it just doesn't seem any better for me. I don't need to carry the honey more than a foot from the jar. I don't need to be able to dose out the honey from the utensil, because I measure it out when taking it from the jar. I do need to be able to close the honey jar so it seals.
I have half a dozen local honey products in my cupboard rn fwiw
Lol I've never seen one of these things in person, I didn't even know it's called a dipper 😹
you can get local honey in squeeze bottles... literally the grocery stores in colorado sell only local honey (never seen honey from elsewhere here) and it's all in squeeze bottles. Now it's not like small-batch cottage foods, but it's still local, created in the state of CO.
I get honey from my next door neighbor, and since we have catnip plants all his honey tastes like catnip, and it's good, but the stuff from the grocery store tastes just as good, it's just not a unique taste like catnip.
I like to get raw unfiltered honey and there's no way this stuff I get can come out of a squeeze bottle. 100% needs to be spooned out because it's almost a solid.
In the end I was making jokes about the main stream honey bear bottles ❤️
the honey that comes in the squeezable bottles is lower quality and the bottles themselves are wasteful. i'd rather pay a little extra, get honey from a beekeeper, know my local agriculture is being pollinated by a local beekeeper, and deal with a little piece of wood i have to rinse a little bit.
the convenience is distinctly not worth the degradation in all of the things i like about honey
Valid points except that squeezable bottle honey ain't shit so it is worth the extra bother.

Sure, they exist, but it's really hard to find real honey in a squeeze bottle. And it tends to suck, as real honey is far, far thicker.
I'm guessing that depends on where you live. In colorado literally every bottle in the grocery store is squeeze and they're all locally grown real honey. I don't even know where you could live where the honey wouldn't be real. If it's labelled honey it can't be something else???
You know they have invented the thing called teaspoon, it makes it very easy to get the honey out of the jar and into your mug of tea. Try it and you’ll be amazed. I’m sure you can find it at a some farmers market too.
i have and that's what i'm comparing against. thank you for your unconstructive input. with the teaspoon you can't twist it to break a run before putting it in your mug and adding the hot water. so the teaspoon ends up being messier.
also what… did you think i was comparing against? my hands?
I’m cracking up thinking about you just grabbing a handful of honey and dropping it into your tea, then whipping the excess on your pants and saying “there’s got to be a better way!!!”
😆 this is a great response
I have never had any problems getting the honey out of the jar with a teaspoon, if you use it correctly you can break a run easily with a teaspoon itself, or the edge of the jar. And I drink tea every day.
I've never had any problems wiping my ass, either, but that doesn't mean a bidet is a bad idea 🤷♂️
That’s nice to know, let’s hope it goes well in the future too.
and that's fine. good for you. you don't have to buy a dipper if you don't feel like. i like mine because it's easier and i was tired of using the edge of the jar when a dipper costs a few cents (i think i got mine for 75 cents)
