General strike or pulling your tax contribution from your job.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How do I prevent myself from being fired, or the IRS from seizing my assets?

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip -3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Oh you want change without sacrifice...

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (2 children)

So it's necessary for my wife to die and me to be homeless?

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So the ones that are currently dying and homeless don't matter as long as your partner and home are secure? Yeah this is Nazi Germany alright.

I find it funny how quickly you went to the emotional extreme response.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

What extreme? My wife requires constant medical care to live, and I can't afford that unless it's heavily subsidized by a corporate health plan. I also couldn't afford my mortgage for long if I lost my job and my savings, so the house would also be gone in short order. Dead wife and homeless in six months to a year.

That's tough. Good luck.

My brother in Christ, you both married each other, you made your bed, now lay in it

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

So I should have just thrown her in the trash when she started having strokes?

[–] dickalan@lemmy.world -2 points 1 day ago

I don’t know, man was it your choice to have these families, sounds like a foolish mistake on your part

[–] dickalan@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

You can’t claim exempt without HR approval, it’s not as easy as you make it

The hell kinda fantasy land are you living in?!

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 1 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

One where we take control of our government? But as many of the replies have already stated, you guys aren't ready for that yet.

[–] Trainguyrom@reddthat.com 1 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

That doesn't start with the nuclear option of people intentionally and directly ruining their lives and financial wellbeing. Start by getting people to protest and to organize. Protesting and organizing can lead to more change for the better without requiring a violence or people directly destroying thenselves. You must save yourself before you can save others.

Did non violent protesting stop the Nazis last time? That's my issue with all of you. We're here. We've arrived at fascism. It isn't a slow slide; it's here and now. Violence is happening, but we aren't fighting. We're following the allowed, legal path of protesting and yet the fascists are still in control and gaining more control each day. I get that it's hard to give up comforts and safety, but that reality is coming for us whether we want it to or not.

The protesting is working though. Why do you think Trump hasn't deployed federal agents to a city in a state with a democratic governor since the injunction following LA? Why do you think ICE operations keep being disrupted? Organizing works too. It's hard for the fascists to economically crush your community when your community joins together to help itself. You know what the fascists would love? For more people to be economically depressed which is exactly what not filing your taxes will do (plus you realize they can just seize your funds to pay taxes right? Also there's literally nothing stopping the federal government from just spending money without paid taxes. It already operates at a significant deficit) you're literally advocating for action that will do nothing but hurt the very people trying to help and have zero impact on those in power.

If you want to yell at people to do something, tell them to become active in their communities. Tell them to get to know their neighbors, form mutual aid networks in their local communities. This will actively help people whether the gestapo is coming knocking or not. Yelling at people to not file their taxes just further insulates them from their communities and makes them more vulnerable
