That's a bit of a shame, but tbh I was not expecting another re-implementation like for System Shock 1, anyways.

Which, if anyone here is still on the fence, is absolutely fantastic. Highly recommended!

Yeah that's how I understand it, too. They'll do turn-based, but probably not in their "biggest" outings as they know action-based tends to (usually) sell better.

I wouldn't exactly call it an MMO? I mean I get it for marketing purposes, sure, but it feels more like Valheim or so to me?

I mean that guy was a dickcheese even before he tried to torpedo this initiative. But wow did he add to his pile of stink.

I mean as they say it's unclear whether it was a joke or not, but with this administration, it's not like "joke", "trolling" and "serious" are any difference in form or function. 😑

What the fuck is wrong with people in Florida. How do people own guns and let these deranged lunatics in suits parade around for even a single day?!

Not bad for an early engine test demo for a game to be released in 2005. Impressive in fact!

This is what people don't get.

This is just double-win: He gets to once again shit on anybody even marginally less fascist that him (so, well, everybody) for the right-wing mass media, while simultaneously withdrawing from the public eye to have less people look at how he's draining money from the US gov.

[–] Carighan@lemmy.world 16 points 2 months ago

Dude could be destitute in a barrel and IMO needs to lose far far more. He deserves every little shit thing that happens to him, and is one of the few people on the planet where if they have a serious roadside accident I might just suddenly remember I panic from seeing blood and hence could not stop to help them and and in my panic did not have enough clear thought to call an ambulance. And I'd do that for murderers. But not for Musk. He's the scum that cannot die soon enough, and cannot die painfully enough.

Yeah. We can assume he gave himself an insane amount of extra cash through his access (like the surprising-wink-wink gov contracts his companies have now), but we don't know truly know how much and he'd be stupid to let anybody know.

He has to get the fuck out now though because obviously him gaining a few more billions cost the american state + public hundreds of billions in long-term damage, if not trillions. It also made swaths of the american government dysfunctional, things like veteran aid etc.

So... if the backend gets moved over to Wordpress, and Wordpress can already federate, I guess this means Tumblr is coming to the fediverse? 😮

This really does not sound healthy. The game is released, for a certain amount of money. If people don't like what they get for their money, they simply should not buy it.

But by now gamers have been so trained to expect to endless content treadmills and all their ilk like mtx and battle passes that publishers/developers get egged on if they don't work on their game 24/7 and forever.

Better late than never! 🥳

While Blizzard is very much focussed on its big money-makers like its various Warcraft games, from WoW to Hearthstone to Warcraft Rumble, as well as Diablo and the much-maligned Overwatch 2, he's still open to StarCraft making a comeback. That said, RTS fans shouldn't get their hopes up. While the series might return, that doesn't necessarily mean it will be an RTS, and whatever shape it takes will depend on the person or team who goes to bat for it.

"It's not me saying, 'Go make a StarCraft game,'" Ybarra told Bloomberg. "I need to have someone who has the vision and passion that comes with the idea, and I'll bet on that team."

A vision and passion he - according to his own words - clearly does not have. 😑
