Wikipedia article on Camelot Unchained:

Camelot Unchained is an in-development fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game from City State Entertainment which was partially funded through Kickstarter [on May 2, 2013]. [The Kickstarter had an estimated delivery date of December 2015]. Leading its production is Mark Jacobs, the former designer of Dark Age of Camelot. Its crowd funding campaign has raised US$4.5 million with Jacobs contributing an additional $5 million from his own assets, and raising an additional $7.5 million from investors, for a total of $17 million.[1] The game is based on its own proprietary game engine engineered for server-side physics and large-scale battles, and as such will focus primarily on open world PVP rather than "theme park" instanced encounters or battlegrounds.

I never backed (I only back single player games on Kickstarter). Just wanted to share with others the saga of this 12 years in-development indie crowdfunded MMO.

This looks like it came out in 1998 😅

I'll try it when it comes out. I really got hooked by Warhammer Online mostly until it closed (now alive again).

I never backed it, but I never felt Jacob's as anyone bad. He put his own money in and I believe they did considerable refunds after a while. Maybe a bit misguided with whatever that spinoff game was. Warhammer Online tried the same thing after he had already left, with Wrath of Heroes.

If it is fun PvP, I'll be there. I hope they popularize something new again. I feel like many games have some version of public quests now.

I miss Warhammer Online. Sometimes I play the fanserver, but the feeling is not there. The past is impossible to get back to, sadly. Still nice to visit though!

I don't think Jacobs is a scammer like Chris Roberts with Store Citizen, but you got to agree the 12 year history of CU does not inspire confidence.

I say this as someone who enjoyed Darkfall and can't stand pure themepark MMOs. I tried to get into DAOC, but the UI/UX is simply too old school for someone who hasn't played it back in the day.

Oh for sure my confidence is way low. I don't do much early access stuff and CU would definitely not be an exception.

I want good things for it is all. Seeing a video drop is nice, if only to show a sign of life.

Wow. I actually did back this way back in the day and I swear I completely forgot about it for at least the last couple years until this post.

Same! I backed the thing and I have no idea at what level any more. Knowing my dumb ass it was probably high.

Not bad for an early engine test demo for a game to be released in 2005. Impressive in fact!

What better way to show your game isn't mired in controversy by disabling likes and comments on your showcase video. This isn't going to end well, but I hope I'm wrong.

Knowing even the basics about this game and its devs should show you that you shouldn't care about it.

Wow it's been so long since I've heard about them, and I used to follow their development closely some years ago. Well, at least they’re still alive and working on it. I remember them having some tough times during covid.
