Lemmy is pretty much an echo chamber for uh… non-conservatives(?) I guess?

I’m not trying to offend, just recognizing a large part of us Lemmy folks are in the same choir.

Same for more conservatives folks. They are probably saying the same thing, but of course we don’t see it much (here anyway).

Lemmy doesn't do anything negative to conservatives. You can have a conservative community and you will not get deranked in the algo or banned.

We only ban hateful racists who seek to push right wing propaganda. It just so happens conservatives don't want to be in a place where they cant be racist, spread their fake news and are outnumbered. Nothing of value lost for the rest of us.

I like the spirit of this. But we also need to remember that "The Algorithm" isn't a single thing. Each service has its own weights and calculations. Each algorithm is designed to do something specific.

Each service builds their algorithm to serve the ends of the ones who control that service. This generally yields an undemocratic system, by design.
