I’d argue the big distinction there is we know what Hitler did; we’ll never know what the Romanov children would have done had they lived.

No, they still get funded by the public. But only the people in the direct line of succession. The majority of the royal families do need jobs.
India/pakistan/Bangladesh did that, but let them have wealth, but next to no power.
The UKs more: have monarch, cut head off monarch, create republic/military dictatorship, regret said dictatorship, install monarch, slowly siphon away power of monarch.
The Commonwealth of England could have been a great idea if they'd planned ahead and thought everything out, but considering the kind of people in charge I'm quite glad they didn't...

Germany just turned its nobility into bureaucrats, capitalists, military, civil servants and political leaders... so same shit, different system.
Only losing WWI had us abolish nobility and by then the transformation of power through birth to power through money and influence had already happened.
