I enjoy it quite a bit, but in my opinion it's wayyyyy better playing with a group of friends than playing with pugs

Good on its own, far better with friends.
It's a ridiculous amount of fun, especially with friends.
Once you become overly familiar with the game (like I have) you'll realize how poorly designed about 60% of the content is. Most of the weapons and armor are borderline pointless and the progression systems are terribly thought out after the first 30ish hours of unlocks. Not to mention the constantly broken updates and engine issues.
All that being said, I had a blast with this game but I feel bitter about the wasted potential.
Exactly the same sentiment I loved playing it with friends and alone but the armour unlocks are basically pointless except for your character looking different. You basically just have low armour rating and fast pace or high armour rating and slow pace. It seems like they wanted to have an in-depth armour configuration system but it doesn't really matter that much which one you pick.
The weapons kept getting nerfed on update when they realised some were over powered; Idk if that still happens as I haven't played for several months but a lot of reducing the magazine capacity of shotguns was more of an annoyance as opposed to balancing the game.
Its fun when you are in the thick of it. Its the best legally distinct Starship Troopers out there. I dont play it much anymore but every time I do boot it up we have a good time with the bois.
ah man it requires buddies? i usually like to play alone
You can definitely play it alone, but it is a lot more fun playing with others, depending on your temperament.
idk man i am thinking arc raiders
Very, very different games
like for me , i can play war thunder alone by myself, (around 10 matches) and enjoy it, idk which one will i like
Do you enjoy playing battle royales by yourself?
nope
I would think that an extraction shooter would be a much worse experience for someone who doesn't like battle royales. That's my opinion, anyway — I know people who have done complete 180s on this so you'll only ever figure it out if you give it a shot.
Idk I'd rather play Deep Rock Galactic!
I play with randos and I got to a difficulty setting that's just too over-the-top for rando gameplay. The enemies become mega bullet sponges and the entire screen fills with them and it kind of killed it for me. Didn't really want to keep playing on the lower difficulty setting so I just stopped playing.
If you have people you regularly play with, you can probably get more out of the game.
I put a couple hundred hours into it and it was fine. Worth the price probably.
Only troubling thing I've seen are some YouTube deep dives on the direction of the game, and it seems they favour consistency with the universe over fun gameplay.
One example was the devs explaining why your can't hop I've short ledges, because the Marines couldn't do that for flavour
The latest patch reduced the file size dramaticly, so it runs a lot better.
And as stated by others, for best expirence, play with friends, sweaty players tend to bounce off it as there is no rankings or ratings and global progress is slow. Have fun, Freedom and managed-democracy await your support.
If you have friends who play it, go for it. I never liked playing with randos. Honestly, I've grown bored with it, as I find it a bit repetitive, but doing stuff with friends who live far away is always fun.
It's one of my all time top 5 games, I have almost as much play time as BG3. There are a lot of whiners in the community but it's so much fun that it's hard for me to take them seriously. I have one friend that plays but 99% of the time I play with randoms, it doesn't take away from the experience at all. Great game, highly recommend.
