No. You don't get to decide what is put on my personal computing device just because you want to force the general public to bear the burden of protecting children rather than forcing parents to do their fucking jobs.

Damn right. I paid for the device, it's mine and I can use it solely to take pictures of my bare ass should I choose so. There's of course, and for a reason, limitations on how I can use those pictures, but those apply to any device capable of taking a photo of anything. But I can still use pictures of my ass as a wallpaper in my own home if I want to.

They don't get to decide if you refuse, otherwise they do get to decide.

In the last century, every single one of the UK ministers pushing for this level of censorship were either gasp gay, or pedophiles. Would not surprise me if this trend continued

So, "virtue" signaling? That's my only guess.

Projection.

They should make it a law to require adequate parental controls to exist on a phone in a way that parents can use them, then teach the parents how to use them. If your kid goes and starts viewing porn then it’s your own fault.

Yes, let parents be parents.

But we all know this is about control and not about protecting children. Sickening.

Oh, fuck off.

They already exist on the iPhone. Take a nude. Try and use the cutout feature. Find that you’re absolutely not able to do it. Now find a non nude picture and use the cutout feature. Find that you can absolutely use it.

This stuff is already enacted right now on iPhone.

Yep, and the option to filter them is already in settings and has been for some time.

And turning it off or on makes no effect. No matter what, it is not possible on an iPhone to use many photo features if the photo is of a nude person.

A good reason to avoid IPhone. Or any other company trying to control your life.

Assuming the cutout feature works by AI and requires you send your photo to their server, it makes a lot of sense that Apple don't want you sending your nads to their server.

[–] PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca 11 points 1 day ago

No it’s processed on device. You can even try this with airplane mode. The cutout feature still works even for new photos taken while offline. There is on-device processing of nudes.

I'd stand with Big Tech on this one.

"Make me. Dare ya. We'll pull all UK sales and block your island off the face of the planet. See how that works for ya at the polls. We're done here."
