Heh. Just noticed on this lemmy instance I'm on,

Without people pushing back on such things as this criminalisation of VPNs, how long before people wouldn't even be able to post about it?

Daunting bubble of censorship making a malignant cancer of ignorance.

register is way too lenient with those lawmakers. at least link to eff.org, e.g: their resource hub about age verification. there is a whole section about how banning VPNs won't work and is a stupid idea.

Did you hear about the ad agency that pushed for the age verification in Australia? They posted gambling ads, and instead of banning the ads, the advertiser pushed for age controls so the issue with kids would be "resolved". Or so I hear. Really, they are probably just trying to control the population and steal data.
