President Donald Trump has taken an extraordinary step in his efforts to turn his birthday into a national celebration, with the National Park Service revealing that on June 14, his birthday, admission to national parks will be free for U.S. citizens.

In addition, Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Juneteenth have been removed from the schedule of free park admission days, despite both being federally recognized holidays.

Instead it will be his death day that will be globally celebrated.

[–] ironhydroxide@sh.itjust.works 34 points 1 day ago (4 children)

I will personally celebrate with the most expensive whiskey I can find on this day.

Let's make a bar date!

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm trying to drink less but yeah I should go get a good bottle just to celebrate the deaths of bad people

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 5 points 13 hours ago

My dad was, apparently, an alcoholic - and a pretty bad one - before I was born. I wasn't around for it, but two of my three older siblings have told me various stories about it. He himself even told me of the night he met my mother, including the detail that that night, he was so drunk that he barely remembered how to get home after dropping her off at hers.

I don't know how long before I was born he stopped drinking, but I only ever saw him consume one alcoholic beverage in my lifetime. When he did, he said "I wouldn't mind one more!" but, to his credit, immediately stopped. I've inherited some of his proclivities, though I think not as severe, and am actively working against them. (I'm aware of the stopdrinking communities, this isn't a cry for help.)

Point I'm trying to make is, if you're trying to drink less or to quit ... Be careful how you celebrate. He had some thirty years of sobriety to recover and was still tempted.

His death is probably going to be the final spark for civil war

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago

JD Vance does seem a lot like Nick Offerman’s character in “Civil War”

[–] atx_aquarian@lemmy.world 5 points 20 hours ago

The circumstances seem important, don't they? Like, it's different if he nods off and shits himself one last time, surrounded by everyone in the Cabinet Room vs. if something external visibly happens to him. I guess either way the wolves will try to spin it to light that spark they want.

[–] Natanael@infosec.pub 4 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Between what factions? Because the factions who would try to use a power vacuum to gain power is doing so right now and not a lot of his followers would actually be willing to follow through on "avenging" him or whatever.

He's a focal point for assholes who use his example as an excuse to behave like monsters - there's no real coherent ideology for his followers to latch into with him gone to get anything done at all. You'll just see various random conspiracy theorists trying stupid shit and a couple of militias delusional enough to think they have broad support who then will be wiped out. They might inflict some damage, but it won't look like civil war, more like the occasional domestic terrorist.

Good, it will be a great day to Protest on.

Also, gorsh, I wonder what Juneteenth and MLK Jr. day have in common that Republicans and only Republicans dislike so much? /s

Also, gorsh, I wonder what Juneteenth and MLK Jr. day have in common that Republicans and only Republicans dislike so much?

I find it simply hilarious that, even still, now that their mask has been completely removed, you still have conservatives and Republicans trying that age-old chestnut about how it is really the Democrats that are the racists, because Lincoln was a Republican, and because of the Dixiecrats. And trying to yadda yadda something about Robert Byrd, etc.

All while they go apoplectic about "woke", DEI, CRT and "political correctness", etc...

Of course, entirely ignoring everything that had happened in more recent times, like the Southern Strategy, and the Civil Rights movement, etc...there was some Republican idiot on the DP comment section that even kept rejecting the Southern Strategy as fake news for some contrived reason that only made sense in his head.

It was always so goddamned pathetic, just like their attempt to tie socialism to Nazis merely because of the label, even if it's easy to point out the fact that the Nazis targeted unions, Communists and socialists.

But the fact that they are still trying this nonsense is beyond pathetic.

[–] UnspecificGravity@piefed.social 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

And yet we still have "centrists" who somehow can't tell the difference.

They try this nonsense because it's works and the general public is insanely stupid.

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

There are people on the fediverse still spouting the same tune, that the DNC are the true evil racists, though mostly Tankies trying to curry favor with the african americans and reignite the millitant spirit of the black panther party. The same people would fervently deny any racism in China.

Uyghurs? What Uyghurs? /s /s /s

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I'm sure you'd find thousands of comments along those lines on r/conservative right now. I wonder how long until they actually try to "take back" the word fascist. Because you're right. In many ways the mask is all the way off.

[–] nymnympseudonym@piefed.social 10 points 1 day ago

You know how it is with sausage making, the end result is not exactly what you originally wanted

I for one look forward to celebrating his Deathday every year

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 75 points 1 day ago (3 children)

His deathday will be a global holiday.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 18 points 1 day ago (3 children)

We should purge his name from every building and record.

[–] Cosmonauticus@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I'd say turning a public toilet into a Trump monument would be a good iea

[–] mrgoosmoos@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm not a fan of that wiping out history stuff. Just make it synonymous with being a shitcunt.

like, Hitler is known. if Hitler weren't known, it's not like we wouldn't have fartsmears like Nick Fuentes around. they'd still be here.

Classic abuser move. Take away two free days and then give us back one and makes sure we know it's from him cuz he put his name all over it.

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 33 points 1 day ago (3 children)

There will be one trump anniversary I'll celebrate, and it hasn't happened yet.

[–] BassTurd@lemmy.world 19 points 1 day ago

I was just discussing the event the other day, and said when it happens I will buy a flag pole, an American flag, and raise it to full staff. It will be up as long as the half staff order is active, then I will take it down and sell it or trash it. There will be zero ambiguity in my actions.

Don’t forget pedophile. And rapist.

[–] Bakkoda@lemmy.world 14 points 22 hours ago

Fuck a child day? Rape someone day? Steal from children's charity Day?

[–] MapleEngineer@lemmy.world 13 points 12 hours ago

Everyone should stock up on crowbars so that the moment this fetid sack of shit is no longer in office they can go fall-of-the-Berlin-wall and forcefully remove his name from everything it has been stuck on.

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 13 points 22 hours ago

Dear Leader Day. With bigly parades and mandatory attendance.

[–] rustydrd@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 day ago

This reminds me that many history-related Wikipedia articles like this one don't have an English version yet. Might be a nice project in anticipation of Trump's b-day.

Can we just fast forward to the part where we find out where they buried him so I can go relieve myself there?

How can you tell if someone is a racist narcissist...

[–] LillyPip@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago

Tell you what, let’s meet in the middle and make your death day a holiday. So come on now, hurry up so we can celebrate it in 2026.

[–] hddsx@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago

His birthday is flag day. No need to make it Trump Day

[–] oftenawake@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 13 hours ago

I doubt the old cunt will even see his next birthday.

That doesn't make it a holiday... Nothing is closing, no one gets time off work. You can't just use words when they don't fit.
