/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

"Good grief, why aren't you helping?!"

"Eh, he's just a Captain. That's less important than a President. Q.Y.D."

"Ah, that's 'Q.E.D.', sir. It's an initialism for 'Quod Erat Demonstrandum'."

"Is that some sort of fancy dog breed?"

"No, it's Latin, sir."

"Lassie, you say? I told you it was a dog breed!"

"...Yes, sir."

Yeah, but these days he can hardly speak even partial words without a bucket to catch the drool, and it's damn hard to hang a gag on that. Call it creative license.

This reads like if Lloyd Bridges was playing the president in a Hot Shots parody of current events.

sure, everyone loves cookies!

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 11 points 1 day ago

Never been given a cookie for a post. I'm feeling that, not even joking. How very kind!

A strong opener. Yes, this is doing it right.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 5 points 20 hours ago

Very strong

Tell me his vacant stare doesn’t resemble Neal Breen’s more and more every day.

Much like the crew in this shot, you're head's in the right place.

This is how I hear the news story first.

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I don't even understand what the news is

[–] AtariDump@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Neither do I; if you find it out please let me and the thread know.

A guy passed out during a press conference a couple days ago. Dr Oz rushed to help him, RFK jr dipped like the cops showed up and he was holding, and Trump woke up from his nap looked over for a second and then turned and stood like this.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 7 points 17 hours ago

I love the part about rfk jr.

[–] HumanOnEarth@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 day ago

If you're doing it wrong, then this isn't the place for me!

I've got a:

"Content not viewable in your region"

Can anyone help?

[–] limelight79@lemmy.world 2 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

What region are you in?

Others have posted the source image below. But in this case it's Trump on the bridge of the Enterprise D, looking at the camera, while Crusher and others check on Picard, who is lying on the floor. I'm pretty sure the source scene is from The Inner Light.

[–] fakeman_pretendname@feddit.uk 2 points 4 hours ago

The UK - there was a badly thought out "protect children from the Internet" policy from the government, which has resulted in quite a lot of websites simply blocking the UK entirely - including wherever this image was hosted (probably imgur?).

[–] Stamets@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 16 hours ago

No, because you made it on the wrong community.

Am I doing it right?

No.

Post your image directly on Lemmy instead of linking to a corporate site who are under no obligation to keep your pic available unless you're paying a subscription to them, and who already stated deleting old images.

Also no because it shows up as "Content not viewable in your region" in my country because some stupid executive got cross about some stupid legislation that isn't about SFW images anyway.

Lemmy isn't subject to this kind of politicians vs corporations bullshit. Put it on Lemmy.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

When people post directly to lemmy, I can't see it. At best I can see it, but not expand it, actually read it. Windows PC, Firefox, 40" TV, nothing crazy. If lemmy can't handle such simple requests?
