Harper's Pub

All of the parties involved in the argument were said to have been drinking.

For God's sake, the British developed technology to deal with this some time back. The Guinness Book of World Records was originally designed to resolve disputes between bar patrons. Just put one in the bar instead of resolving them via homicide.

Most prolific chicken

White Leghorn (No. 2988)

United States

The highest authenticated rate of egg-laying is 371 in 364 days, laid by a White Leghorn (No. 2988) in an official test conducted by Prof. Harold V. Biellier ending on 29 August 1979 at the College of Agriculture, University of Missouri, USA.

Guinness World Records, known from its inception in 1955 until 1999 as The Guinness Book of Records and in previous United States editions as The Guinness Book of World Records, is a British reference book published annually, listing world records both of human achievements and the extremes of the natural world. Sir Hugh Beaver created the concept in order to settle arguments debated in pubs, and twin brothers Norris and Ross McWhirter co-founded the book in London in August 1955.[3]

British

Guinness

Oooooh, them's fighting words!

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago

well the guy whose idea it was and the MD of Guinness was South African so it gets worse

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 13 hours ago

The family's been at least partially London-based since Victorian times, and some of them hold British titles of nobility.

[–] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 11 points 1 day ago

I think you’ll find the British invention to solve this was deportation to America.

[–] AwesomeLowlander@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But then we'll never get a new record for 'number of dumb questions asked before somebody got shot'

[–] moakley@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

Most or fewest?

whatever amount of eggs this guy says is the right number

[–] CluckN@lemmy.world 30 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It’s one or less a day. You can measure the flocks mood by the amount of eggs being laid a week. On weeks with poor sunlight or chilly weather we’d have less than usual.

[–] Dave@lemmy.nz 6 points 21 hours ago

I'm trying to start an argument, but the other guy over there says 371 in 364 is the record, which is more than 1 a day.

[–] Grimy@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm beyond frustrated that the article doesn't mention either of their positions. Was he right?

[–] Taldan@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago

I raised chickens for many years, and I was all ready to be able to weigh in on who was right. A darn shame they couldn't give us more details

[–] hOrni@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago (5 children)

Is it always the same "Florida Man" or do they take turns?

[–] Endmaker@ani.social 16 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

That's the joke, no? That they are obviously all different people, but we treat them as one person - with the superhero name Floridaman - who's responsible for all the weird shit.

[–] Zamboni_Driver@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 day ago

Have you ever seen them in the same place at the same time?

[–] danekrae@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Floridaman - who’s responsible for all the weird shit.

This is the worst movie in the Marvel universe...

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

can't be worse than The Marvels. I went legally blind on that one.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

We only hear about the Florida shenaningans because of a criminal transparency law unique to Florida.

The entire country is a freak show.

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

That Sunshine law just states public meeting records must be publicly available not that every criminal case needs to be made public (as an example just look at any one of the thousands of cases involving police brutality where details aren't released). This is just a myth that got repeated over and over on reddit for years to the point that everyone believes it.

This type of shit is explicitly unique to Florida.

Have you seen Fallen with Denzel Washington? It’s kinda like that, but instead of Azazel it’s Beelzebubba.

That outfit is straight fire though.

Overalls are always sexy AF, the knee-high rolled cuffs show off the 'too cool to give a fuck' combo of socks and slippers, but the shirt's on the opposite side of the color wheel for maximum contrast, and the yellow hat adds to the cartoonishly cheerful look.

It's an outfit that screams both "look at me!" And "lol i dgaf". I would absolutely wear the hell out of that outfit. I wouldn't accesorize it with a handgun though.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The beauty of handguns is that they go with anything.

[–] Hegar@fedia.io 5 points 1 day ago

I hear that lethal projectiles are very slimming.

From the grainy screenshot, he looks exactly like Farmer Fran from The Waterboy.

"Two of the victims were arrested for resisting officers". MURICA!

[–] CmdrShepard49@sh.itjust.works 18 points 1 day ago

Two of the victims were arrested for resisting officers.

Typical Florida police state.

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 day ago

Tom Sawyer is really into chickens.

[–] borari@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 1 day ago

Two of the victims were arrested for resisting officers.

I’m not even surprised at this point.

[–] turdcollector69@lemmy.world 9 points 15 hours ago

American one piece ain't fucking around

[–] falseWhite@lemmy.world 9 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

The only reason I read the article was to find out the answer!!!

HOW MANY EGGS CAN A CHICKEN LAY???

[–] Lokoschade@feddit.org 7 points 11 hours ago

depends on the breed of chicken it can range from 80 to up to 300 eggs per year

[–] pineapplelover@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 23 hours ago

Jesus he's a walking hillbilly stereotype

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago

Stereotypes happen for a reason.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Guy looks like a GTA player RPing a hillbilly meth head.

[–] harrys_balzac@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

At first I thought dude was cosplaying One Piece. With a piece.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

The Florida version of the Straw Hat pirates. They all have guns, Chopper is an alligator, and Nami is inexplicably pregnant for some reason.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 6 points 21 hours ago (8 children)
