Oh my nobody could have seen this coming. (Sarcasm)

[–] CocaineShrimp@sh.itjust.works 21 points 1 day ago

People were calling it from day 1. I'm surprised it took this long for the FBI to come out with a statement... although...

Take off the masks, you fucking cowards

Criminals posing as US immigration officers have carried out robberies, kidnappings, and sexual assaults in several states,

I'd need to see some exceptionally compelling evidence to be convinced they weren't actually just ICE officers doing this.

And later in the story...

A senior ICE official tells WIRED: “Anyone caught impersonating themselves as a federal immigration agent will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Impersonating a federal immigration officer endangers public safety and erodes trust in law enforcement.”

Only the bootliquors still have any trust remaining. Fucking trust. Lol

[–] ironhydroxide@sh.itjust.works 18 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I worry that they'll claim wearing a mask is "impersonating a federal immigration officer", especially when it's bad enough the protests happen in earnest.

We've reached a point where lawlessness is being championed by both the law and criminals. Add to that we have elected a felon/pedophile president. What a time to be alive - sigh.

Organized gangs finally had their lightbulb moment?

[–] adespoton@lemmy.ca 63 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Well, that assumes “organized gang” and “ICE” are mutually exclusive….

[–] Kellenved@sh.itjust.works 18 points 1 day ago

They’re actually just taking their cue from the biggest gang

[–] 100_kg_90_de_belin@feddit.it 16 points 1 day ago

Don't trash "organized gangs", they're better at what they do than ICE

[–] chaosCruiser@futurology.today 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

In Cyberpunk, the NCPD is basically just another gang. More organized than the Valentinos or Tiger Claws, but pretty much the same by the end of the day.

In real life though, ICE seems to be a lot like a gang too. Have they pivoted to drugs and violent extortion yet? You know, if you smuggle guns and slaves, you can make a lot of money?

There's no way ICE hasn't been involved in illegal drug smuggling for decades. It doesn't work without corrupt people in those kinds of positions. DEA and CBP as well.

And agents who don't do this, or do other illegal acts should be dealt with. Right? Hello?

Like we’ve been saying this whole time!

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 50 points 1 day ago

Ice are criminals

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 47 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Some of them are probably real ICE.

[–] theparadox@lemmy.world 28 points 1 day ago

Plausible deniability.

Reports of a masked ICE Agent murdering an individual filming an ICE raid, then fleeing the scene. "That wasn't an actual ICE agent. Don't worry, it's... 'under investigation' and we'll never release any information about the incident ever again."

Ice is sexually assaulting people.

Let them prove they aren’t.

[–] IndridCold@lemmy.ca 44 points 23 hours ago (13 children)

I always thought protesters should wear jeans or tan tactical pants, boots, vest and plate ($35-50 from Amazon), a tacticool utility belt ($20-30 from amazon), helmet ($30 from amazon) a black Balaclava Ski Mask ($6), with sunglasses. On the right chest have a random ID number like "A462". Slap an American flag patch (or a Police gang patch with the blue line).

You could even throw in a functional gas mask for $50

These ICE creeps don't have a proper issued uniform. They bought their shit off amazon as well. I saw one dude who looked like he was wearing airsoft/paintball stuff.

Can you imagine the confusion if everyone dressed in tacticool? Those untrained ICE idiots would be completely lost.

Yeah, as everyone knew would happen when the cowards began hiding their identities and acting like a secret police on amfetamins.

[–] rozodru@pie.andmc.ca 40 points 1 day ago (1 children)

hah they're not going to ID themselves. these cowards can't even do their "jobs" without covering their faces because they're so scared.

load more comments (1 replies)

Oh, oh, I know! How about they release an app, or a website, where we can take a picture of the face of any of these Agents, and it will confirm if they're actually one or not.

On a serious note, it would be very useful to have a better system of confirming who is an actual agent or not. Something like plugging their badge number into a website and they have to confirm a daily code or similar.

"Warns" "urges" Yeah that'll do ot

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 36 points 21 hours ago (4 children)

So we're allowed to shoot them in self defense now if they don't ID?

[–] Jaysyn@lemmy.world 21 points 21 hours ago

Yes, and I am shocked this hasn't already happened.

Lol, gee I never saw this coming....

[–] drhodl@lemmy.world 34 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

This just tells me that the "real" ICE agents, are doing criminal stuff and the FBI are just getting in front of that. What did they think would happen when you give the otherwise unemployable a badge and a gun, and empower them?

Maybe they could go after the real criminals then?

At this rate someone's going to feel legally justified to defend themselves and others with lethal force from potential criminals.

Criminals posing as Ice... Seems like Ice is covering for their own crimes they are committing

[–] fox2263@lemmy.world 22 points 1 day ago

The majority of ICE then

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 18 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

So masked ICE are likely criminals? Noted

Still surprised we haven’t seen more shoot outs. But that just goes to show how peaceful people seeking citizenship really are.

Well, that's all very cool.

How about ICE stop wearing those goddamned masks so they can be identified?

[–] TankovayaDiviziya@lemmy.world 16 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

The FBI only put a bulletin warning that masked individuals might be pretending to be government agents, just now? After nine months of terrorism? How is this not seen as authoritarian move? This is like with any full blown authoritarian states where the dear leader says something vague tantamount to directing a purge. And when enough people were purged, the dear leader would then say that his goons had gone too far from his original intent and order them to stop. This is not the first time America did something similar; the red scare and the McCarthy's communist witch hunts went on long enough to tarnish people's reputation, before Harry Truman made a speech calling out what is happening as unfair to people whose reputations were ruined. The powers-that-be know what the heck their doing and the last minute "call to sanity" is to white wash their deliberate intentions.

But then Nana will know they raised a little failure of a fasciat and their immigrant wives won't make them pancakes.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 13 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

All ICE agents are criminals. They know this, which is why they always refuse to identify themselves.
