I'm pretty sure he is using ICE to trigger a violent response from the population so it "justifies" the use of the military against the population. To him, it hasn't gone far enough because he hasn't gotten that violent response yet.

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 29 points 1 day ago

You should be more than sure ... this has project 2025 all over it.

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 26 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (3 children)

This is what I really don't understand. So the game plan is to use a violent response as an excuse to use a violent response?

At this point we're looking at 10s of thousands if not 100s of people kidnapped, and we're all doing nothing under this pretext. Is this message from the opposition?

The thing were all forgetting is that we don't have to fight ice, we just have to fight billionaires and their security. The sooner we understand that, the sooner we can all sleep without worry

[–] bobs_monkey@lemmy.zip 33 points 1 day ago (5 children)

It's a catch-22. If people fight back, Trump & Co steam roll us with the military to quell "the violent left." As people have remained relatively non-violent, the state keeps upping the ante in hopes that the people respond violently, which in turn "justifies" a violent course of action from the fed. They're only really heavily antagonizing blue cities.

The purpose of all this is to extinguish opposition in order to transform the US into some bastardized rosey view of the 50s where the majority of people are white Christians, where men are in charge and women keep quiet, and that they can control the economy from on high to further enrich "the right people" while keeping the poors at bay. This is all entirely spelled out in Project 2025. They're trying to throttle anyone not in 100℅ agreement with their view of the right America.

I reckon the only way to avoid violence, and still fight back is with ruthless mockery. Make people laugh at how ridiculous and infantile everything Trump and his cronies do and say is. Bullies hate being laughed at. Look at how he reacted to Kimmel's mostly mild mockery.

The most effective non-violent action we can take is to organize a General Strike.

The country would be brought to its knees if suddenly deprived of profit and labor. That tactic was extremely effective in Chile in 2019, and had they not fallen for the trick of liberal reform, they would've had a successful revolution on their hands with virtually no bloodshed.

If you aren't in a union (or even if you are, it's worth dual-carding), please consider joining the IWW to unionize your workplace (bonus: you'll get higher wages, better benefits, and more time off if you succeed!) to strengthen a general strike if we manage to enact one, as most unions have a strike fund that can supplement your income during a general strike to make it more financially bearable (you should also save as much money as you can reasonably do, so it can also be used to keep yourself afloat during a strike).

And for our international friends, you should join one as well, as fascism is gaining momentum globally. If your country isn't listed below, just contact the IWW directly in the link above.

Millions of protesters in DC and a general strike until there's some accountability, anything less and they'll just try it again. The snap benefits are trying to prevent that but might be the trigger needed

The game plan is to get a violent response from the proletariat to lock the country down into martial law, and rule by deadly force. He becomes king, and his billionaire donors get more money (especially from for-profit detention centers).

He continues to either bring up, or gets asked about, the Insurrection Act. Problem is, he doesn't have a legitimate reason to use it yet. Sure, he could probably imvoke it now since he has lawful immunity, but the optics wouldn't align, so he has to help stoke the fire.

The billionaires, meanwhile, have insulated themselves from wrongdoing by the grander populace, as they've benefitted from decades long propaganda about "earning" their wealth. Meanwhile having sufficient power to influence laws and regulations, while building their own "escape" plans (bunkers, foreign investments and properties, etc.). Not to mention, loyalist security forces, including the National Guard (a private donation paid their whole next paycheck).

They planned this shit for decades. They know the psychology of all the players down to a T. All so some christo fascist can enslave us all in the name of Christianity while stealing all of our labor and resources.

It's insane that the dumbest among us could not see how voting for Trump three times would allow them to finish their plans: But we have to remember this Trumpers are racist idiots but also victims themselves. I don't know how all this will end but I hope it can be done without more violence.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I hope it can be done without more violence.

I hope the sky will rain pizza and world peace, but realistically nah.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 23 hours ago

Someone would see a Chicago deep dish rain down, start an argument over it, and world peace is shattered for another ten generations.

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 1 day ago

There is no way this ends without more violence.

Not right now we shouldn't. Right now, we lose. A lot can be done with a combination of passive resistance, the courts, and (yes) electoral politics. Meanwhile, a cultural backlash against the right is building fast. The fascists really are racing the clock to consolidate power, and it doesn't look like they are gaining ground fast enough.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

I do think there's something to this. The big problem is that a bunch of people are being hurt right now while we wait for things to work out. We've been forced to do this the hard and slow way due to decades of dismantling of working class power in America.

Fascism can't ever work. The only question is how much damage it does until it goes away.

This regime sure is Fucking Around quite a bit huh, wonder what's going to happen as a response?

[–] mushroommunk@lemmy.today 28 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Well SNAP just lapsed and Trump stated he would be slow to release anything from the emergency fund so whatever is going to happen, it's likely happening soon

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 15 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

They better hope they have enough hard power for what they're about to unleash because they really really do not want to find out what we would do to them if they lose

[–] zebidiah@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 day ago

The names Mussolini and Gaddafi spring to mind, for no reason....

The only difference between ICE and the SS / Gestapo is public executions. But I wouldn't be surprised if that's what Donny means.

[–] masterofn001@lemmy.ca 8 points 23 hours ago

That is what he means.

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 8 points 20 hours ago

The SS didn't start by doing that. It was an escalation.

Yeah because Trump would rather have everyone shot instead of arrested and thrown in concentration camps. He would prefer the courts allow him to just murder us, which is about to happen in 2026 if he gets his way.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 7 points 19 hours ago (3 children)

Nah, they want to fill their concentration camps so they have a source of slave labor. Killing immigrants while rounding them up defeats that purpose.

Now protestors, on the other hand, are a different story.

Why isn’t ICE furloughed during the shutdown? This is all stupid. I hate it here.

[–] NessaSola@eviltoast.org 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Same reason the BBB funded them by over $10,000 per undocumented 'target', making one of the most well-funded armies in the entire world.

It's not meant to operate as a deportation force, it is a paramilitary meant to serve the administration's corrupt whim.

[–] MajorasTerribleFate@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Same reason the BBB funded them [...]

It took me a second to get past reading that as the Better Business Bureau, and I was wondering what the hell they had to do with any of this.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

It's not 100% out of the realm of possibility. They're a terrible organization that exists mostly to protect businesses who do shit work.

Oh they are beyond just avoiding being furloughed. They are getting all their earlier unpaid checks plus all their overtime pay.

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world 14 points 1 day ago

Traitorous fascist insists his fascist army hasn't caused enough chaos yet. Vows to continue putting his boot on the neck of the average citizen and using more pressure this time.

Fixed it for you.

[–] aarch0x40@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

What will be enough?  A fixed quotas for street murders?

[–] someguy3@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They want everyone non-white gone.

[–] 18107@aussie.zone 11 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Then they'll need another "out group" to oppress. It'll be disabled people, homeless, trans, gay, brown eyes, dark hair, owns less than $1B...

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Your list is extremely backwards.

It's always started with "owns less than 1B" and they've figure out groups from there.

What’s interesting is that they are bleeding supporters. Instead of the boiled frog, they’ve hit us with ice water. It got on everyone. Trump still needs to have supporters for him to be become king. He’s not there yet and he’s losing supporters and no kings seem to keep getting bigger.

[–] Wubwub@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 day ago

Honestly I'm surprised it hasn't gotten worse quicker was there any more info on that guy that was shooting at cars leaving one of the ice compounds?

[–] madjo@feddit.nl 7 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

Of course not, it hasn't caused an armed uprising. He wants that, so that he can declare martial law.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 4 points 23 hours ago (2 children)

If its not one thing it'll be another. He's not going to allow any more elections. He's all but said so. Might as well kick shit off before his hands are all the way around our necks.
