Companies hired by ICE would be given bundles of information on 10,000 immigrants at a time to locate.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is considering hiring private bounty hunters to locate immigrants across the country, according to a procurement document reviewed by The Intercept. Under the plan, bounty hunters may receive “monetary bonuses” depending on how successfully they track down their targets — and how many immigrants they then report to ICE.

According to the document, which solicits information from interested contractors for a potentially forthcoming contract opportunity, companies hired by ICE will be given bundles of information on 10,000 immigrants at a time to locate, with further assignments provided in “increments of 10,000 up to 1,000,000.”

I'm just waiting for the Trump Youth Corps to spin up and deputize Junior ICE Officers

[–] meco03211@lemmy.world 33 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What alignment would the person be that accepts and then specifically targets immigrant trump supporters? Chaotic good? Lawful neutral? Lawful evil?

[–] pennomi@lemmy.world 46 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Lawful evil. Regardless of their political inclinations, no person should be criminalized for existing.

[–] Bbbbbbbbbbb@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Well its a good thing I dont consider the ruling class to be people

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

While I agree with your comment, immigrant trump supporters are, for the most part, not the ruling class, so it actually seems kinda irrelevant.

[–] yeather@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago

On top of that by the same logic they could argue illegal immigrants are not people. As soon as you begin removing protections from one group you remove protections from all groups.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 2 days ago

See, I would say chaotic good, because removing fascists is always good.

[–] NessaSola@eviltoast.org 1 points 2 days ago

Not lawful. No amount of acknowledging the existence of mechanisms of law determines one's lawful alignment. A chaotic person isn't blind to the presence of law, they just don't feel internally compelled by it.

Strongly disagree with 'evil', too, if the act has a meaningful chance of helping somebody innocent.

[–] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 22 points 3 days ago (1 children)

So they’re admitting they can’t do it themselves, and that the numbers of immigrants just aren’t there. You have the resources of a military, so much money, and you are just so dumb.

Worse. Bounty Hunters have already been wrecking havoc on the USA, years before Trump. Take everything bad about greedy corporate attitude, and give those people the ego of a police officer. This is exactly what ICE wants - with the bonus that if any case gets extremely bad press, some private citizen takes the fall.

I recall watching a story - 2 months ago, a man named Hussein Alsaadi was kidnapped from Richardson, Texas by a team of bounty hunters - they abducted him from his home on a warrant for a different man. But, again, this is not Just a 2025 problem, it's been like this for a while.

"this guy at such and such address. He is pretending to be a maga to not get deported"

[–] CheeseNoodle@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

This... this is going to devolve into armed gangs dragging random brown people off the street and turning them in for bounties (and then they get deported) without anyone at any point actually signing off on anything or checking if their a citizen or not isn't it...

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Wait. Isn't that already happening? 🤌🏼

[–] CheeseNoodle@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Yeh but now its open season, every fuckwit with a gun and a couple of friends can start hunting people down without even needing to pretend to be ICE and even get paid for it.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago

... They already could. It's just more public now.

Oh, and no one's getting paid. Mark my words.

I'm pretty sure that's what the instructions say yes.

[–] NotMyOldRedditName@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

So now instead of masked unidentified cops kidnapping people, there are going to be masked, unidentified non cops kidnapping people?

[–] bold_atlas@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

At least it will be easier to get away with smoking those shit heads.

[–] ramenshaman@lemmy.world 15 points 3 days ago

I hate it here.

[–] HurlingDurling@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

It would be a shame if several well meaning but anonymous citizens give them address of know white supremacists.

[–] etherphon@midwest.social 13 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Life must be such easy mode if you have no morals or ethics, oh well.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago

Don't worry, statistically many of them will eat their own guns... several years after committing untold atrocities and ruining innumerable lives while on the job.

Eventually, one's own conscience does seem to win out. Just look at the suicide rates for ex-mil in the US alone. No small part of that total is from catastrophic regret/trauma. 🥲😶‍🌫️

[–] WhatGodIsMadeOf@feddit.org 12 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Fuck off with this ICE shit... AMERICA plans cash rewards.... Blame America as whole until Americans fix it. Americans fund it. It is American. Blame American culture.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Ok... and?

(I mean, don't get me wrong; the username certainly tracks: Vitriolic yarp lacking any real substance behind its incendiary call-to-action? Yep, that checks out, "god stuff". Oh, and which god, exactly? 99.99% of 'em, down through history, I'm guessing?🤌🏼)

[–] webpack@ani.social 11 points 3 days ago

can't wait for witch hunts in the big 25

don't like your neighbor? just report them to ice and they will be sent to an el Salvadorian prison

Low key waiting for ICE to set up a contract with Blackwater (the PMC that made their name, as it were, in Iraq)

[–] billwashere@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

I would love to join this program to send them on so many wild goose chases. But they’d probably arrest me for obstruction or some made up shit.

[–] lIlIlIlIlIlIl@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago (1 children)

We need to hack this database, and insert the hacked ICE agent database records

For funsies

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago

Who is this @funsies and can they hurry TFU?

[–] DickFiasco@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 days ago

What could possibly go wrong.

[–] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 7 points 2 days ago

That will be even worse

[–] fulcrummed@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago

The vests on the guys in the thumbnail are amusing. Esp the one that says “POLICE ICE” it looks like a typo or an echo “umbrella, ella, ella, ay, ay, ay”

They look so dishevelled and unprofessional. Like a group of weekend wannabes who have found their hobby. They should have joined a bowling league or built RC cars, instead they’re exorcising their pain and humiliation from every perceived slight and injustice they’ve suffered in life by victimising people who simply wanted a chance at a better life and were willing to do backbreaking, dangerous, disgusting work in the shadows of society in pursuit of that dream.

[–] notarobot@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

I'm not in or from the us but I see two possible good outcomes of this. Node: THIS IS VERY MUCH WISHFUL THINGKING AND I KNOW IT WONT HAPPEN. Do not get mad, I'm just shitposting

  1. Since they "can't have a trial for anyone" bounty hunters claim the reward with no proof and the government gets scammed without anyone actually getting deported
  2. Since the hunters are scamming the government, the government decides to implement a process in which the identity of the deported has to be confirmed before deporting them which gives them a chance to prove their nationality and defend themselves

I know this won't happen. I believe that the government and the hunters both hate poor people so the hunter will round up ally he poor, and the government won't care if they are the wrong person. Also, I think there is a high likelihood that the hunters are given the same powers as ice like search without a warrant and so on

[–] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

Or.. number 3 : Only the racist chuds who couldn't meet the requirements to join ICE become bounty hunters, and they just capture people and further the fear felt by non-whites in the US. Which is the intended goal here.

[–] notarobot@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah. That is a given. Bounty hunters in this case are people not only without morals (like ice) but also do not like following orders...

Wait. Are they actually worse people than ice? Of course ice does way more damage to people and they do hire them so they are guilty of their crimes, but for once, they might actually not be the people with the least morals in the room

[–] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Are they actually worse people than ice?

Oh sure. I'm positive there are some ICE rejects that are also pedophiles.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Don't forget, in this instance, since the dumbass "hunters" are fully trying to scam the system via handwaving past the ID confirmation step, in turn that step will be what said gov't uses to tie up the bounties in court until the whole process is far enough along that it can close out the denial of those payouts.

Word to the wise: trying to "game the system" is an available option that's hardcoded into the system we all live under. To think for one second that you're smarter than the elite teams that train tirelessly on any number of exploits... Oof. 🤪🤷🏼‍♂️

[–] notarobot@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Sometimes it's hard to figure out when the government is smart and evil and when it's stupid and evil.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 1 day ago

¿Por que no los dos?

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

Haven’t they already been doing this?

[–] betanumerus@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago

Sounds like promotion for weapon companies.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago

Gestapo? Bah, could never happen again... 😅🤦🏽‍♂️

[–] DarkSideOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

And how they will avoid abuse and not get legal immigrants or even Americans that are just descendants

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 2 days ago

You think they're at all worried about "abuse"? Are you new?

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 days ago

So like their handlers, they let others do their work for them.
