I’m sure the police will notice that crime suddenly only happens when it rains.

[–] muffedtrims@lemmy.world 7 points 13 hours ago

They probably didn't spring for the 6k clear coat.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 hours ago

Does it rain in Vegas though? Sorry, never been there.

[–] als@lemmy.blahaj.zone 58 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

How long till their batteries explode?

[–] dalekcaan@feddit.nl 4 points 14 hours ago

Depends, when's it supposed to rain?

[–] MushuChupacabra@lemmy.world 38 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Imagine being a cop, doing your best To Serve and Protect impression, only to have your car lock you inside and incinerate you, at a time of its choosing.

[–] planish@sh.itjust.works 7 points 14 hours ago

Or at a time of the choosing of the one rich dude who has root on all the cars.

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 37 points 20 hours ago (2 children)

I hope these were donated.

[–] CarbonIceDragon@pawb.social 42 points 18 hours ago

Donating cybertrucks almost feels like a way to sabotage the police. Almost.

They were (I messed up posting and didn't link to the article which explains this)

Wow did US police learn nothing with the Explody Crown Vics? Gonna be hilarious when these guys fall apart during a chase. The "perp" will just need to drive through a puddle.

[–] blackbelt352@lemmy.world 15 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Was the crown vic explody? I know the Pinto was because of how the gas tank was built, and the Crown Vic had a bunch of recalls because it was just stress tested that much by nature of being commonly used by cops and taxi companies but I don't recall the crown vic having major flaws like that.

Did not know that, appreciate the info! One thought I had though is that the Crown Vic may have had more deaths than the Pinto, was that because they were actually more prone to explode than the Pinto or does the fact that it was so widely used by cops, taxis and groups using a fleet of cars account for the elevated numbers?

[–] PP_BOY_@lemmy.world 8 points 19 hours ago

First time im hearing of it as well. I even had a CVPI for a short time and was impressed with the build quality

[–] MyTurtleSwimsUpsideDown@fedia.io 7 points 19 hours ago

It’s just the chase. It’s the “defensive” driving maneuvers and the getting bumped by a beater that will get officers cooked in an unopenable tin can.

This is straight out of Reno 911

[–] _cryptagion@anarchist.nexus 21 points 16 hours ago

I can't think of a better group to force to suffer using a Tesla than a bunch of pigs.

[–] Alloi@lemmy.world 16 points 15 hours ago

just ride out into the desert, these things get hung up on napkins for fuck sake.

[–] man_wtfhappenedtoyou@lemmy.world 13 points 11 hours ago

I guess they gotta do something with all that inventory nobody wants to purchase. Keep that stock price up.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 17 hours ago

I... presume the warning sirens have been replaced with a clown horn honking sound?

[–] Cyberflunk@lemmy.world 10 points 2 hours ago

i hope they explode

[–] Tylerdurdon@lemmy.world 9 points 10 hours ago

Do they glue the handcuffs on the perpetrators?

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world 9 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Classic idiots supporting other idiots with idiocy. Have fun with that! I would have gone with Mclarens personally, but you do you LV

[–] vinceman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 13 hours ago

Oh my god it's so fucking pathetic to choose cybertrucks I didn't even think of what else they could have bought.

The ten vehicles were fully funded through private donations.

Those private donations could have done better, but at least it wasn’t tax dollars.

[–] hateisreality@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

I still think many tax dollars were used..

[–] st3ph3n@midwest.social 5 points 16 hours ago

Not a good look.

[–] Zeke@fedia.io 4 points 16 hours ago

I'm gonna laugh when they start losing fingers to the doors being slammed on their hands.

[–] angband@lemmy.world 4 points 2 hours ago

fuck will they lock people in those?

[–] kungen@feddit.nu 1 points 15 hours ago

Hey dude can you please wait like a half an hour? I gotta charge my car if we're gonna have a pursuit...
