“The first thing for me was he didn’t release the Epstein files. They’re even acting like they didn’t exist,” he said, before moving on to his other grievances. “And, of course, they’re sending Israel and Ukraine all of our tax dollars just like the numb-nuts before him did. Putting America last, and now he’s blaming the beef farmers for the price of beef.”

Mitchell added, “Hey, I’m not biased, man. He talked a good game; he tricked me. I was fooled. I admit it.”

"Yeah, I do think that Donald Trump is that beast of Revelation 13:3."

He talked a good game

No he didn't, at all. You're just really stupid so you think he did.

[–] Godort@lemmy.ca 89 points 3 days ago (3 children)

It's really obvious if you've learned to think critically. If you haven't, then it's easy to fall for the lies. There is a reason why he's the central public figure of the GOP. The man provably knows how to rile up crowds.

[–] Goretantath@lemmy.world 38 points 3 days ago (5 children)

If you haven't learned critical thinking, that is the same thing as being dumb.

It's fascinating how many, who believe they are "thinking critically", follow Trump because he "talks good". They think so critically, that they don't notice the irony.

"He is The One. He ~~moves~~thinks like they do."

[–] Rothe@piefed.social 35 points 3 days ago

He "talked a good game" if you are a moronic bigot. This guy is still a moronic bigot despite his "revelations".

[–] criss_cross@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

At least he’s admitting he’s wrong. I’m willing to let him save face a bit even if it’s completely fucking obvious to anyone that paid attention to his first term that he’s completely full of shit.

Depends on how you interpret the word "good". Not in a moral sense obviously, but good as in "effective"? Trump got elected POTUS twice, despite (or because of) being one of the most despicable human beings to ever exist. Not a great orator, and every time I see him speak I want to vomit, but still, objectively I'd have to concede that he did indeed talk a good game.

I really hope more magats start having some self awareness. The hubris is so blatant that even total idiots can see through it

[–] guillem@aussie.zone 40 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I mean, if they think like that post they'd still vote for fascism if it was christofascism.

They won't. Think of it this way, there were so many people saying COVID was a liberal hoax as they were laying on their death beds unable to breathe.

When even that dumb broad Marjorie Taylor Green starts running her mouth against her Cheeto-Jesus, you know there's a glimmer of hope.

Of course, she does it entirely out of her own selfish interests: she is personally impacted by Trump's shenanigans. She doesn't really give a fuck about her constituents, or even basic decency. But if that's what it takes to have one less Trump enabler, I'll take it.

[–] Pat_Riot@lemmy.today 38 points 2 days ago

He did if you're stupid and bigoted.

"Yeah, I do think that Donald Trump is that beast of Revelation 13:3."

Man they just can't help themselves but to continue being dumbshits even as they come around to the Trump grift can they.

[–] DemBoSain@midwest.social 30 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (4 children)

I know it's highly subjective, and highly open to interpretation, but I think you'd be surprised at how many 'beast of Revelation' checkboxes Trump fills in. It would be comical if not so real.

He talked a good game

No he didn't. You're just incapable of thinking critically. ESPECIALLY since we already saw what a phony he was the first time he was in office. There was no possible way to be "fooled" at that point unless you're so full of hate that you WANT to be fooled.

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 13 points 2 days ago

It's even worse.

He wasn't fooled. He knew very well what he signed up for. And he was fine with it until things personally affected him. And now he claims he was "fooled".

Nah, he's the same racist, Nazi supporting piece of shit he's been for the past ~10-12 years at least, but now that it's negatively affecting his life, he's trying to leave the sinking ship.

Everything this guy says is proof that it's not good to get hit in the head for a living.

On the positive side, if he can set the truth then there is hope for others. Not much hope, I give you that, but some.

Hmmm...

One of its heads seemed to have received a death-blow, but its mortal wound had been healed. In amazement the whole earth followed the beast.

Revelation 13:3

[–] arcterus@piefed.blahaj.zone 21 points 3 days ago (3 children)

It's sort of hilarious to me how much shit actually lines up.

[–] snooggums@piefed.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It also describes Hitler and other fascist leaders who had setbacks along the way.

It’s interesting that there’s still no self awareness and no personal responsibility - like: “it was written all over the wall but I was blind to see it because of my biases and judgments”. Instead it was “I was lied to”.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 11 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (4 children)

That's the only path to getting these people turned around. They've, rightly, been called cultists and fascists. Keep telling them they're wrong, they double down. We already saw this the first time around.

I'm very forthcoming when I'm wrong, but I still have an easier time saying I was bamboozled than plain stupid.

[–] dejected_warp_core@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

That's how I see it.

There's also something that folks forget about people that get suckered in like this: It's not their first rodeo.

Imagine you're someone that gets below average marks in school, makes a lot of simple mistakes, and has to work to meet average expectations in life. All this gets called out and checked a lot by people that seem to be having an easier time at everything. A lesson the world teaches people like this is: never admit you screwed up, because maybe this time nobody noticed. It's an environment where you just get emotionally beat up if you don't protect yourself. So, to me at least, it's not a surprise that a lot of people react to being called out by defending their ego every way they know how.

This is the one piece of weirdly uplifting news I needed to hear. If a bigoted idiot can see the writing on the wall, then there's hope for us all

[–] bold_atlas@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (3 children)

He'll still endorse Trump or his replacement in 2028. Just wait and see.

As far as I understand it, it's not like he regrets his bigotry or anything. He just regrets believing Trump would do anything about it. He's mad that Trump isn't fucking the right people in other words.

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Which is, genuinely, progress.

He was voting for a guy who he thought embodied his (fucked up) values, and is now becoming aware that the guy only values himself and fucks everyone. Hopefully next time he will vote for a politician he can actually trust, and actually reflects his (bigoted) values at a meaningful level.

He drew the line at Epstein and sending tax money to Israel/Ukraine. I'm actually impressed he noticed that that line had been crossed

I don't think a man with chronic work-related concussions is the most reasonable voice.

[–] Alteon@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

He's a ~~meathead~~ strong, alpha man in a position with a lot of public eyes that other ~~meatheads~~ strong, alpha men can look up to for guidance.

Hey, if his admission to being tricked by Trump's lies causes other ~~MAGA folks~~ strong, independent thinkers to have a little introspection and change, I'm all for it.

But a problem here is this guy is upset that he helped ukrain, like Biden did. Was he supposed to not help Ukraine then this guy would be happy.

And, of course, they’re sending Israel and Ukraine all of our tax dollars just like the numb-nuts before him did.

Helping Ukraine destroy the top US enemy while not losing men is probably the beat deal US ever had, this argument is BS. Remember, Trump is a problem/in power because of Russia, and Russia will do everything to keep destroying US from the inside out. Israel is fully understandable, but this guy no longer supports Trump because of helping Ukraine? Fuck off

[–] Tempus_Fugit@midwest.social 16 points 3 days ago (3 children)

I'll admit, hearing this dude say all of this is quite cathartic, but Jesus Christ. You'd have to be a goddamned moron to believe Trump after seeing what he does. Sure, yeah he talks a good game, but it's been backed up with zero follow-through for the entire extent of his life. He's a fucking landlord for Christ sakes. What more do you need to know?

[–] Rothe@piefed.social 9 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Equating Ukraine with Israel shows how little this guy has changed his moronic bigoted views though.
