Hi all!

Looking to get back into pirating more music. Torrent sites don't have a large selection. Other options have poor quality.

I've been looking into alternatives like Soulseek, but can't find how to bind that to VPN like I do with Qbit.

I've heard the risks are lower, but I'd still prefer to bind to VPN. I know from experience that kill switches are unreliable. Is this possible in soulseek or something similar (preferably OSS and with ok sound quality).

I've read the FAQ, megathread and done a search and didn't find anything.

You can with "Nicotine+", which is an alternative client for soulseek.

Nicotine+ has such a weird UI

It is pretty much completely customizable in settings… Everything from button/bar placement to color. You can even completely remove items.

Many VPNs provide modes where all traffic is forced over the VPN, but does Soulseek even still work? I feel like I tried it a decade ago and it already never worked... most advice for music piracy these days is to rip from legit sources with something like Nuclear, but afaik that is no longer maintained

Soulseek is amazing, it's by far the most comprehensive music piracy tool I've used.

Yes! I have a machine where the whole system is going through a VPN and I run my SLSKD instance on it just fine.

I used it this week. Works great.

slsk never really stopped working for me and it still works like a charm.
