The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules (interactive)

Rule 1- All posts must be legitimate questions. All post titles must include a question.

All posts must be legitimate questions, and all post titles must include a question. Questions that are joke or trolling questions, memes, song lyrics as title, etc. are not allowed here. See Rule 6 for all exceptions.

Rule 2- Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material.

Your question subject cannot be illegal or NSFW material. You will be warned first, banned second.

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Questions which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts and joke questions.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-question posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

On fridays, you are allowed to post meme and troll questions, on the condition that it's in text format only, and conforms with our other rules. These posts MUST include the [NSQ Friday] tag in their title.

If you post a serious question on friday and are looking only for legitimate answers, then please include the [Serious] tag on your post. Irrelevant replies will then be removed by moderators.

Rule 7- You can't intentionally annoy, mock, or harass other members.

If you intentionally annoy, mock, harass, or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

I got flu and Covid vaccines on Thursday, both in the same arm. Now it's sore and looks like this. The soreness is something I expected but I've never had a vaccine location look like this before.

EDIT: Apparently there's a thing called Covid arm, which sums this condition up pretty well. I'm going to give it a couple more days before I go through the circus of trying to get a doctor's appointment.

Please do not seek mental, medical and professional help here

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 18 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I get it. I wasn't looking for advice so much as I was hoping to gauge other people's experiences to determine if I was overreacting or not. Please remove if it breaks Rule 3.

[–] RickyRigatoni@retrolemmy.com 4 points 3 weeks ago

I used to be like that too. The thing is, if you're worried you may be overreacting, you're probably not the kind of person to overreact. Doesn't hurt or cost much to just pop into one of those walk-in doctoramas just to see what they say.

RN here: call your doctor. Don't look for advice online, mine or anyone else's, period.

I'm not being a dick, that's the only answer anyone who knows what they're doing and gives a damn is going to give you.

It's definitely lupus though. 👨🏻‍🦯

It’s always DNS

Except for s4e8

[–] fulcrummed@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

I think you mean sarcoidosis

Another Healthcare Professional here: I second this healthcare professionals advice.

Don't get strangers opinions through the internet who's credentials you can't verify. See a healthcare professional.

[–] slazer2au@lemmy.world 53 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

You should call your doctor about that.

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 9 points 3 weeks ago

Thanks. I've been thinking about it, but I wanted make sure I'm not overreacting to something that's normal.

[–] TragicNotCute@lemmy.world 35 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

No. This isn’t normal. Go to a doctor or urgent care today.

I’m not a doctor and this isn’t medical advice, but it looks like Cellulitis to me which can be very dangerous.

[–] Theoriginalthon@lemmy.world 10 points 3 weeks ago

I was in hospital for a week with that once upon a time, would not recommend 1/10

[–] Cevilia@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 3 weeks ago

OP, ideally you've already called your doctor or gone to the emergency room. If you haven't, please do so now. Thank you.

[–] TehBamski@lemmy.world 17 points 3 weeks ago

They are definitely not supposed to look like that. Call your doctor/primary care right away. It looks like an allergic reaction of some sort. Call your primary care.

[–] black_flag@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 3 weeks ago

That could be an allergic reaction which can be life threatening. I would genuinely consider going to the ED if I were you.

[–] Adderbox76@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 weeks ago

That can happen when they leave the microchip a little too close to the surface and it causes skin irritation.

[–] PrincessLeiasCat@sh.itjust.works 7 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

My first Covid vaccines did this, but I have contact dermatitis and my skin reacts to almost anything, including winter sweaters.

I’m not a doctor and not giving medical advice, but for me this is not necessarily uncommon. That doesn’t mean the same for you, obviously.

[–] Bluefalcon@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 3 weeks ago

It looks like the saturation levels have been tweaked and maybe some lite picking around the injection site?

[–] spykee@lemmings.world 6 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh boy, I don't know how to break it to you.
This is not good bro.
I'll tell you what this is.
It's a classic case of asking strangers on the internet some medical advice. You clearly have the aggressive form of stupid bro.
There's just one cure.
A hard smack to your favourite side of the head and then, without fail, a visit to the local doctor, as a follow up.
Repeat as required.

This is the real diagnosis. If you want fake diagnosis and hallucinations just ask Chatgpt, at least then you can imagine you sue a company.

[–] Bristlecone@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

First off placement is HORRENDOUS. That isn't the deltoid yo. Second: as others have said GET HELP

[–] BlackLaZoR@fedia.io 5 points 3 weeks ago

Go see a doctor - this is most likely an allergic reaction, but just in case consult a specialist

[–] Theoriginalthon@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Not a doctor here, if it's warm to touch it's an infection, draw a line around it in pen with a time and day, then In a couple of hours do it again. If it gets bigger, starts leaking puss or fluid got see a doctor like now.

Source: had a couple of skin infections before

[–] TranquilTurbulence@lemmy.zip 3 points 3 weeks ago

Never happened to me before. I would go back to the clinic to show that to a nurse.

[–] loomi@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

I had a red splotchy arm after a pneumonia vaccine. The redness was growing and the area was hot to the touch. Saw a doctor. Got meds. Think the official dx was cellulitis.

Could be the same problem. Could be something different. See a doctor.

[–] Toes@ani.social 2 points 3 weeks ago

Looks infected to my eyes. But I'm not a medical professional.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

Even just an immediately-bandaged pinprick bleeding three days later itself isn't normal, let alone the rest of it.

Hope you feel better!

[–] SpacePanda@mander.xyz 2 points 3 weeks ago

As everyone said call a Dr/walk-in I just got my combo a week and a half ago and it never did this.

[–] celeste@kbin.earth 1 points 3 weeks ago

My roommate had this happen. He got it again, but less bad, when he got a booster. I think it initially took a couple weeks to go away, but I might not remember correctly. I think some people are inclined to have this happen.

[–] dkppunk@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago

I am not a doctor and if it does get worse you should talk to one.

That said, I usually get a rash a day or two after a Covid vaccination. It’s happened almost every time I get one. I’ve had welts on my forehead and up and down my legs. I have asked my doctor about it because I was very concerned at first. He said as long as it doesn’t happen within 4 hours and I do not have any breathing issues, it’s not a problem. I do have very sensitive skin and break out into hives with a lot of things like fragrances and certain fabrics.
