The officer apparently tried to tuck a gun into his pants instead of using a holster, failed, dropped the gun, and menaced bystanders in response to his own failure

Where the fuck was he taught to tuck his gun in his belt like this? Fucking hastily trained amateurs.

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 139 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Trained? Don't they just apply, given a gun, mask, and pointed towards a brown person?

[–] calliope@retrolemmy.com 56 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago) (1 children)

Nah, it’s not the police. These imbeciles probably bring their own guns, which is why this one dropped his.

Fucking meatheads.

[–] credo@lemmy.world 12 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

This was a reference to a South Park episode btw. Worth a watch if you enjoy laughing.

He went for the "shoot my dick off", appendix carry. He went for his CCW holster, and it wasn't there.

[–] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 8 points 17 hours ago

It ended up being more like the Calvin Klein holster

ICE is directed by jan 6 insurrectionists

[–] relativestranger@feddit.nl 19 points 17 hours ago

they got all the 'training' they need:

“I have to protect my people.”

not you. not 'them'. just 'my people'.

The gun fumble omfg, guy being kidnapped very nearly grabbed it. Then it takes 8 minutes for 4 guys to put on handcuffs and get out of the intersection!?! Reckless, untrained and dangerous for everyone around them.

[–] tidderuuf@lemmy.world 14 points 17 hours ago

The IDF hasn't trained them yet, they've been busy.

[–] notgivingmynametoamachine@lemmy.world 105 points 16 hours ago (5 children)

He should have been taken down by a good guy with a gun immediately - pointing a gun at someone is a felony, and these brown coats have no training or accountability.

[–] My_IFAKs___gone@lemmy.world 33 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

They're being called Brown Coats? Malcom Reynolds would be furious to learn this.

[–] pau_hana@feddit.org 47 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago) (2 children)

I love the Firefly reference, but I think they meant the brownshirts: Braunhemden)

Why are we not calling them, "red hats?"

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 12 points 13 hours ago

Because they don't wear them. They're all in Tacticool™ camo.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 11 points 12 hours ago

Red Hats are the rank & file idiots, and also his Insurrectionists.

ICE is a whole other level. Think Brown Shirts vs Gestapo

[–] infinitesunrise@slrpnk.net 9 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

Most responsible gun owners understand why shooting this guy in this moment would be a huge mistake and are devoting an outsized chunk of their patience to tolerating the people demanding to know where was the good guy with a gun was.

[–] notgivingmynametoamachine@lemmy.world 12 points 10 hours ago (3 children)

If you think I’m genuinely suggesting “a good guy” start a fire fight perhaps I need to be less ambiguous.

I was being hyperbolic - I think ICE is Nazi scum and deserves to die, but I understand that this man being shot in the moment is not the answer.

I just wish it were - he catches a round for his Nazi scumbaggery (and all his friends too), and then everyone just moves on like nothing of value was lost, because it wasn’t.

An ICE agent pointing a gun at someone like this deserves to be fired. He basically doubled down on his own incompetency.

[–] DreamlandLividity@lemmy.world 29 points 10 hours ago

Forget fired, they should face criminal charges as anyone else would if they pointed a gun on someone without a reason.

[–] Catma@lemmy.world 25 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

So what you are saying is they are going to promote them?

[–] LordCrom@lemmy.world 24 points 7 hours ago

Problem is, who is the officer? No name, no badge number, unmarked car....

This is how the riots start. Sooner or later one of these untrained ice agents will shoot a civilian because he is scared. Somebody in that crowd will shoot back....and then it begins.

[–] Deflated0ne@lemmy.world 22 points 10 hours ago

*deserves to be shot. Like all gestapo.

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 11 points 8 hours ago

That would get him shot in my state. This guy wasn't masked, but if they are masked they can be considered criminals, a criminal pointing a gun at you is 100% self defense if you shoot him. It would never go to court.

No badge is about the same, but not as blatant/clear cut. You can say you thought he was a criminal, but the issue would need to go to court. In the end he pointed his gun at bystanders so shooting at him would likely be self defense ... but how fair would the system be?

[–] merdaverse@lemmy.world 76 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

ICE isn't so tough when they're not slamming defenseless women into the ground, are they?

[–] Guitarfun@lemmy.world 23 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

If they were so tough, why aren't they going after actual gang members? Not old ladies they say have "gang connections".

Per the article, these are Florida asssholes in Maryland. Sounds like wannabe slave catchers to me.

[–] BanMe@lemmy.world 17 points 9 hours ago (3 children)

Apparently that's a tactic, using soldiers - I'm sorry, "agents," domestically you have to move them to a different location or they get soft.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 8 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

That dumb fat bastard looks pretty soft. Pointing his gun helps him compensate for being a fascist bitch.

I stayed just outside of DC a couple weeks ago. I went into a run-down Dunkin and it was operated entirely in Spanish aside from the cashier knowing just enough English to take orders from people who aren't fluent in Spanish. I knew enough Spanish to be able to get my order when it was called. As I was leaving, a cop came in and started counting every brown person there. He made a big show of it, too, and people started panicking.

I honestly didn't know what to do in that situation. I was hungover as hell, broke, and had to drive 5 hours to get home so I could wake up for work the next day. I decided to just hang out and make sure the cop knew that I was watching him. I had my phone out and ready to record if more serious shit started happening. After a few minutes, the cop went back outside to his squad car and I pretended like I totally just happened to be leaving at the same time. When I blatantly eavesdropped on the cop and his buddy in the squad car outside, I heard them laughing about the whole thing. Apparently terroizing immigrants and their families is a fucking game to those bastards.

The patrons of the place cleared out immediately after the cops were gone. I stayed parked at that Dunkin for a good half an hour after everyone who could leave did and nothing else happened.

I have no idea if I should have done something more in that situation. I wanted to tell the cop to get the fuck out of there. I wanted to say some witty shit like "Oh man, I didn't order ice with my coffee."

I kinda freaked out internally when I realized what was happening but I couldn't bring myself to just leave despite my instincts telling me to. So I just made my presence and opposition to the cop known in a way that couldn't (legally) get me arrested and hoped for the best.

I drive a school bus for a semi rural city in Arkansas. A large portion of the kids that ride my bus are Hispanic. I have had nightmares about this shit since the election.

I'm a white blonde blue eye cishet man and I'm still being hit by the unabashed cruelty and evil. I just want to get off.

Another day in Nazi America.

[–] IzzyScissor@lemmy.world 38 points 9 hours ago

Pointing a gun at someone is assault.

[–] Lucky_777@lemmy.world 36 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Republicans wonder why people don't like ICE here. Wtf.

[–] RandomlyGeneratedName@lemmy.world 13 points 14 hours ago

They don’t wonder. They revel in the fact that city folks hate ice. They’re just whiny little bitches with persecution complexes. They’re only joy is thinking they got back at their perceived enemies.

[–] vodkasolution@feddit.it 35 points 14 hours ago

Nth tale from a fascist country.
And make no mistake:, fascist countries are like that because they're inhabited by fascist people.

[–] ElectricWaterfall@lemmy.zip 35 points 17 hours ago

Heartbreaking to hear the guy calling out for help.

[–] ThePantser@sh.itjust.works 31 points 17 hours ago

Wait who is the terrorist organization again? It's these guys right? Right?

[–] AbidanYre@lemmy.world 31 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Go ahead. Shoot me.

I wonder, how many people regret saying it because they've been actually shot. Ah, yes. None. Good line.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 15 points 12 hours ago

I said it once. Felt like the only option. Luckily it didn't backfire

Isn't that the reason why you all have guns at home?

[–] LogicalDrivel@sopuli.xyz 10 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

So, lets entertain this train of thought a moment. The ICE agent drops his gun and, embarrassed, drops to the ground and points the gun at bystanders (according to OP at least). A bystander pulls a gun on the officer in defense and fires. The ICE guy on the ground gets hit but not before firing off several rounds. By this point the rest of the goon squad have pulled their guns and begin firing on the crowd because they don't know where the shots originated from. Now you have a wounded/killed agent and a whole group of innocent people got gunned down in response. Taking it further, Trump uses this as proof that martial law needs to be enacted officially and not just the illegal ways he's doing it now.
Maybe that's what its going to take? IDK. I do think you're right in principle, but shits complicated.

[–] masterofn001@lemmy.ca 8 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

At leas t with Marshall law you will finally understand the severity and maybe fight back instead of just saying things like, "if we do something it'll be bad", every single time, until there is no one to fight back and nothing left to fight for and you can enjoy the full force of a technofascist state anyway.
