The Pentagon has summoned military officials from around the world for a gathering in Virginia. Even top generals and their staffs don’t know the reason for the meeting.

This is 100% wishful thinking, but perhaps they're taking Russia seriously.

Fuck, I couldn't even muster the cope to think this might be true.

[–] Zron@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

If they were taking Russia seriously, they wouldn’t consolidate the command of the entire US military into one base in Virginia.

Russia wouldn’t even need a nuke at that point. Just conventional bombs on a couple ICBMs or SBMs would effectively decapitate the United States government. Hell, just a few spies with a Uhual full of explosives could do it without risking retaliatory launches.

The idiot just rang the dinner bell for any foreign government that wants to cripple the United States. This order alone should be a fireable offense on the grounds that it blatantly weakens national security.

More likely, he's giving the orders to invade Greenland, or Aberbooboo.

We're resegregating the military.

[–] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 12 points 4 days ago

I am sure they will share it on signal again. If not it will get leaked real fast. These numpties could not keep a secret if their lives depended on it.

In construction we refer to this as a pizza party… pink slips to follow shortly. Hope you’ve been paying into that unemployment boys.

There’s a government shutdown looming, who’s to say it doesn’t have something to do with that? Y’know, since their paychecks come from the government.

The defense budget is basically unlimited

[–] RoidingOldMan@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

It's the department of war now, so calling it a defense budget seems wrong.

If the drunk loser wants a war he can go himself, maybe he can finally get some qualifying experience and get shot a few times by the Taliban

Looks like we're headed to war......with Kerplakistan.

Is it a meeting or a happy hour?

That article is honestly kind of nonsensical and reads like AI. What does Watergate have to do with any of this?

[–] Zron@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Nixon purged the DOJ to cover his ass from watergate.

Trump might be preemptively purging the DOD to cover his ass for a dictatorship.

This is one of those headlines that freaks me out, but ultimatly this meeting probably won't effect me in any way. This keeps happening. I should just stop monitoring this stuff.
