The forced mass incarceration of an entire marginalized group while also referring to them in a dehumanizing way by calling them "a virus". Anyone who knows anything about history knows where this is going.

"They are lied to, told they are victims" then immediately "we should treat them different, revoke their rights and disconnect them from their social connections and communities, institutionalizing them all". Hhhokay, Satan. Calm down.

When Satan goes to bed at night, he checks under the bed to make sure this guy isn't there.

For a second there he almost went the empathic route of “mental health is real health and should be treated”. Almost. Then he went right off the deep end :’(

I've said 100 times, once you realize these people view LGBT as a choice, everything they say makes internal sense.

Now you see why they want to silence LGBT voices and keep their kids deaf? They think their kids, who like all kids are easily influenced, can be "turned". All to easy to argue against that, but I can see why people get alarmed. Get ready, because this is dumb, just showing their POV.

My daughter told me she was bi last summer. Y'all, she's 12, never kissed a boy or a girl. I think she's a typical kid entering puberty, trying to figure out who she is, like trying on different clothing styles. Unless she turns out to be a lipstick lesbian, she's hilariously feminine. :) IDGAF either way, but I seriously doubt she's bi. Can you see how a bigot would react?

"You turned my daughter gay by exposing her to the gay agenda!"

Again, if it's a choice, their internal logic is consistent. And it's stupid easy to unravel them.

My best counter? And this worked on my best friend many years ago; ask them to describe their experiences during puberty. "How did you choose which team to bat for? I mean, you coulda gone either way, right?" Ask them what sexual characteristics they like in a partner and ask why they choose those things. Make them explain. This hammers home the fact that attraction is not a choice.

Even if it's a choice, which it's not, but even if.

WHO GIVES A FUCK?

As long as I don't hurt anybody, it's none of anyone's business where I stick my dick or pussy. If I want sex with a hundred men or women, then that is my choice, why would anyone have to say anything about that?

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

To them, it's an evil choice, it's wrong. Haven't come up with a slam-dunk on that argument, but if you take the notion of choice out of their brain, argument won.

Two problems:

  1. I read and watch a lot of Warhammer 40K lore. I’m bot gunna play the game(s) and I doubt I’ll read any of the books; I just think it’s neat.

  2. If I did get into the Warhammer 40K tabletop and played it with other consenting adults, what’s the problem with that?

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Their logic is that the choice to play Warhammer is evil. Hard to argue them out of that, but you can strike at the "choice" part with surgical precision.

I'm genuinely unsure whether I'll still be alive in three years.

I'm starting to rethink my retirement savings

I don't plan to have kids. I live in very close proximity to the US. being old seems like it kinda sucks

I might just plan to retire at 50, live to 70, and then whatever happens next happens. if I'm shitting myself in a crappy home, so be it, I'll know how to end it if I want. but it's looking like there's a pretty good chance that the US will ruin the stability of my future anyways

Well that's more talk that's going to get people hurt. Conservative newscaster talks about killing the homeless. A day later someone does this. Now more shit talk. Do we get online and make ominous threats yet, guys?
