Fact check: The Center for Strategic and International Studies found that right-wing extremists were responsible for approximately 67 percent of extremist-related terrorist plots and attacks between 2015 and 2020.

[–] jonne@infosec.pub 72 points 15 hours ago (5 children)

I can't think of any recent cases besides the guy that shot Steve Scalise. Do they have a list of cases they're going off, because 67% seems low.

[–] Archangel1313@lemmy.ca 81 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

They do, but they're almost all "eco-terrorism" related, which includes property damage as "violent". So basically, every time an environmentalist sabotages logging or mining equipment, it goes on the same list as folks that murder politicians, commit mass shootings, or blow up government buildings.

[–] Glide@lemmy.ca 16 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (2 children)

I mean, knowing that, I'm a little disappointed that eco terrorism only accounts for less than 33% of all "violent" crime.

That’s an interesting point you raise. Could you point me to where I could read a bit more about how those stats are collected? Happy to Google but you seem in the know so figured I’d ask for directions.

Probably counting protests as violence...

[–] Red0ctober@lemmy.world 8 points 14 hours ago

Lol, I don't think they're counting anything

[–] xxce2AAb@feddit.dk 15 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Well, the ADL reached a conclusion of 75%. Obviously, it somewhat depends on methodology and chosen metrics.

[–] jonne@infosec.pub 13 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

The ADL has no credibility though. They count saying 'free Palestine' as an anti-Semitic attack, even when a Jew says it.

Between 2008 and 2017 right wing was 71% of all terrorist incidents. Muslim extremism was 26%, left wing extremism was 3%.

It's a statistical fact that JD Vance is a fucking liar, and that fascists won't let the facts get in the way of a useful narrative.

Hey Couch Fucker,

https://web.archive.org/web/20250911012550/https://nij.ojp.gov/topics/articles/what-nij-research-tells-us-about-domestic-terrorism

But then again the politically violent right world never let facts get in the way of calling for political violence.

Also, highly unethical to be hosting a white supremacist podcast while being the vice president.

About that.

No wonder you censored the government website, Vance. We can’t have facts getting in the way of your outright lies and propaganda.

[–] merdaverse@lemmy.zip 36 points 5 hours ago

It's a statistical fact that JD Vance is a lying piece of shit.

Deaths from far right terrorism outnumbers far left 6:1, from the government's own reports over the last 30 years. But that was before the Ministry of Propaganda decided to take it down right after the death of Mr. Acceptable Losses.

Not according to every single intelligence agency or law enforcement study that's been done in the US. The data all indicates that the right is orders of magnitude more prone to committing politically motivated violence.

"Statistical fact" - as someone forced to teach statistics, whenever a student writes this phrase they lose marks. Any statistical statement is an implication of evidence, not a statement of fact.

Distraction, distraction, distraction.

This was dropped at the same day as the kirk shooting. I think it's interesting that we didn't hear about the Prince Andrew part when trump is visiting the UK today.

The cache of more than 18,000 emails directly contradicts Maxwell's recent statements to federal investigators and undermines her longstanding claim that she distanced herself from Epstein after the early 2000s.

Here is one of the mentions of Trump:

Trump’s name surfaced again around the time Epstein was making an intense backchannel lobbying effort to get federal prosecutors to drop their case against him. It was in an email dated Aug. 23, 2007, a month before Epstein signed the non-prosecution agreement with the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida that ended the federal component of the Epstein investigation.

The emails indicate that Maxwell may have been referring to a team of reporters covering Epstein who she expected would be seeking information from Trump; from Abe Gosman, the late healthcare magnate whose palatial property sold to Trump for $41 million after a heated bidding war with Epstein; from court documents in West Palm Beach; and from Joel Pashcow, the Palm Beach police and fire foundation board member who’d traveled on Epstein’s private jet. Pashcow did not respond to a request for comment.

https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2025-jeffrey-epstein-emails-ghislaine-maxwell/

Here is Prince Andrew:

The unsealed documents released Thursday also contain allegations that Jane Doe 3 — whose allegations match those of Giuffre — was "forced" to have sexual relations with Prince Andrew on Epstein’s private island in what was described as "an orgy" with numerous other under-aged girls. It does not specify the year. The woman was allegedly instructed by Epstein to "give the Prince whatever he demanded" and "report back to him on the details of the sexual abuse."

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/unsealed-documents-show-epstein-maxwell-correspondence-2015-n1235307

The email proves he knew Epstein at least as long as Epestein had the island up and running.
