News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

I’m excited to share a comprehensive archive of /r/Conspiracy posts spanning 10 years—from August 15, 2008 through October 15, 2018! The archive includes every post that either achieved a score of 25+ or garnered 25+ comments, ensuring that even those seemingly low-scoring yet controversial posts are in the mix.

Here are the quick stats:

  • Uncompressed Size: ~2.2 GB
  • Compressed Size: ~384 MB

And the coolest part? The entire archive is available on GitHub with all the source text and code you need to get started:

GitHub Repository: libertysoft4/conspiracy-text-post-archive

It’s incredibly easy to clone the repository and set up your own server using GitHub Pages. Just follow these simple steps:

  1. Click on the GitHub repo link above.
  2. Clone or download the repository.
  3. Follow instructions to deploy it on GitHub Pages (or your preferred hosting platform).

This means you can have your own fully operational /r/Conspiracy archive server in minutes, keeping the glory days of Reddit alive. Whether you’re into data analysis, digital archaeology, or just love reminiscing about the old Reddit era, there’s plenty to explore.

Happy exploring, and enjoy the trip down memory lane!

Was it still glorious between 2016 and 2018 though? That sub was fun back when it was all aliens and stuff. The cutoff should probably be a little earlier.

I remember unsubscribing in the lead up to the 2016 US elections. It changed from aliens and other fringe ideas to 99% US politics.

The real conspiracy was the Russian interference with American elections via social media.

But that was too vanilla for them to get into.

It was always right wing political shit. It just became even shittier. There is nothing glorious to preserve here, except perhaps as a good example of the fascist pipeline in action.

This exactly. Around 2015 is when I really noticed it becoming astroturfed.

Conspiracy theories were supposed to be fun and not really taken seriously. Once "groups" like Q-Anon showed up, all the nutters quickly linked everything to politics and the conspiracy theories that may have had a believable hint of truth just got destroyed by complete bat-shit crazy rambling.

Who could have foreseen that a subculture based on spreading anti-scientism and unfounded paranoia, all in good fun of course, would be co-opted by right wing political propaganda for political purposes?
