Anderton said that in a future world of “meritocracy”, the UK could “regain” former colonies such as Australia, Canada and South Africa.

Dude really needs to stop talking.

This clown has clearly got his entire education of history and civilisation from far-right fan-fiction videos and eschewed the high quality education he was offered for free. Someone with even a passing GCSE level understanding of the world would not make such ridiculous statements.

If the world was actually a meritocracy, his judgement has demonstrated he is severely lacking in any merit whatsoever.

Seriously, if it were a meritocracy, the only merit to his existence would be keeping the guillotine in tip top shape.

You realise he was PM when we declared war. Yes he tried to avoid it, but he gave Hitler a red line. When Hitler broke it, he acted.

Wowzers, what a dipshit. I think it's much better for the world that Britain was forced to give up all of its colonies.

[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 3 points 5 days ago

UK have to fight in WW2 because their colonies is being attack, and also Nazi is drawing close. Is he suggesting British Empire to just go "whoop i don't really want that place, you can have it" and stay put and let the Nazi roll them over? Is he dumb
