/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

Looking forward to Star Trek: Bootstraps, featuring the USS Ayn Rand.

They're just going to continue Andromeda and make Kevin Sorbo the showrunner.

"Wait, it's been Paramount this whole time?"

Always has been. They canceled the original series and ended all of the other series when the money pump stopped growing.

If you understand how dead television is. This plays true to Larry. He buys up dead tech and gets played technically. Oracle is a joke.

Oracle acquired Cerner and that is truly a shit-tier system with absolutely horrific support.

I hate how they keep redesigning the Gorn to use as villains/monsters/enemies. Star Trek Online nailed the design imo.

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 10 points 3 days ago

Personally I think they shouldn't be redesigning any of the aliens. That image of the "Gorn" would be something that could be cool... if it were a new alien species.

[–] kieron115@startrek.website 5 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I think their lore explanation was that this was a baby Gorn, which I guess are still driven by instinct until they kill all of their siblings, grow up, and are picked up by the other Gorn?

[–] kieron115@startrek.website 2 points 1 day ago

Well, yeah, but the one in the picture was a baby.

[–] Tattorack@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

They literally ripped off Alien, my man.

The Gorm were xenophobic and territorial. But now they turned them into straight up monsters.

What's the t rex looking thing?

[–] teft@piefed.social 45 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

It's gorn erasure is what it is. Cultural appropriation. Gorn wear gold lamé singlets and to say otherwise is offensive to all gorn.

This is essentially a totally different species; why didn't they just give it a new name...?

Capitalism would certainly be more final of a boss than Paramount+

[–] d00phy@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago

One being a tool of the other, I would say there’s little difference in the two arguments.

Seeing that the far-right fighting league UFC is getting on Paramount... Yeah, my disdain for nuTrek is vindicated. It's all garbage slop with no soul made only for profits, anyways
