Alternatively, “USA lets bleach guy decide what science is important and real.”

Because to Americans, Trump is worth it.

No, not to a majority of USians.

Every day you let him stay there is a day the rest of you are complicit.

I suppose one might say the same of you, my friend. I suspect we have approximately equal pull in the current administration. What say we work together instead of accusing the other of complicity?

From the EO: "Every tax dollar the Government spends should improve American lives or advance American interests. This often does not happen. Federal grants have funded drag shows in Ecuador, trained doctoral candidates in critical race theory, and developed transgender-sexual-education programs. In 2024, one study claimed that more than one-quarter of new National Science Foundation (NSF) grants went to diversity, equity, and inclusion and other far-left initiatives. These NSF grants included those to educators that promoted Marxism, class warfare propaganda, and other anti-American ideologies in the classroom, masked as rigorous and thoughtful investigation." yikes.

Trump makes a bizarre statement -> the press publish it -> the Republican controlled government uses it as a footnote from a reliable news source to justify its random actions -> things go horribly wrong and the GOP blames the Democrats

Science + Politics = Politics. No thanks!

On the positive side, if funding is funneled properly, Lysenko's experiments might finally get done correctly and vindicate Lamarck.

That's what they think but Science will just stop happening here and will move to where it can happen. It will delay progress for sure though. It's very frustrating when we have so many problems to solve.

Everyone forgot we voted for religious fanatics and science is anathema to their cause.

Sharpies perform scientific miracles!!!

Given the example of who’s running the US government right now, this means science is doomed.
