Prisoner Found Dead While Imprisoned in Death Camp

[–] TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com 68 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

and no foul play was found

yeah if they can't tell that concentration camps are foul play ... i don't imagine them to be able to recognize "foul play" at all

[–] dan1101@lemmy.world 63 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I'm sure the staff is devastated.

[–] BradleyUffner@lemmy.world 24 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Only because of the paperwork

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 16 points 1 day ago

They just toss the paperwork "he was undocumented" 🤷🏼‍♂️

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 33 points 1 day ago

How was this person ever alone long enough to hang himself? This facility keeps multiple people in cages. It says they found him in the shower but I doubt they let people shower alone. They’re also not going to let detainees wander off on their own in the facility.

Wake me when it's an employee in the title.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 20 points 1 day ago (5 children)

Its fucked up that I am relieved it was suicide.

disagree, either explanation is fucked up,

murder? fucked up

situation bad enough that pushes people to suicide? fucked up

Not sure if that changes much. They still contributed to it.

[–] Steve@startrek.website 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No, all they did was lock him up in a death camp forever without charges.

[–] curbstickle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago (2 children)

In this case, there actually were charges, which he had entered a guilty plea for:

He was arrested in January at a CVS after the store reported him for fraudulently using a credit card to buy gift cards, according to Lower Paxton Township police. "An investigation was initiated, where Ge was found to be in possession of numerous stolen credit card numbers located within his cell phone," police said.

Ge was arrested for criminal use of a communication facility, unlawful use of a computer and access device fraud, according to ICE.

Ge, who was from Flushing, Queens, pleaded guilty to accessing a device issued to another who did not authorize use and conspiracy to commit the same on July 31, according to ICE, and was sentenced to six to 12 months for each count and granted immediate release to the ICE detainer.

[–] 5too@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

Per the article, that's all according to ICE.

I'm at the point where I'd like someone else to verify the charges before I believe that's what was filed.

But frankly, if ICE says the sky is blue, I'm checking for rain.

[–] curbstickle@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

No the first part is from the Lower Praxton Police. They handed him over to ICE after.

I agree with not trusting ICE, but that part isn't coming from them. Here's the police blotter from his arrest:

[–] 5too@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Ah, I stand corrected. Thanks for linking that!

[–] thejoker954@lemmy.world 30 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Or it was staged to look like a suicide

AKA being Epsteined.

[–] forrgott@lemmy.sdf.org 28 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Maybe. Or maybe not.

There was no explanation as to how they eliminated any possibility of foul play. Just a mention of a handwritten note, and the assurances of fascists that there is no reason to suspect them.

It just seems, I dunno, fishy. Shower room instead of in his cell, for instance. But either way there's not really any way to prove it. It's just i guess the first thing in my mind was they cornered him in the shower area, and quickly scribbled down a success note knowing there will not ever be even an investigation. But I'm making plenty of assumptions, so...

Very tragic. Another senseless casualty to this hate filled movement by fuckers who can't handle being afraid of the fact that they don't actually matter in this world. 🤬🤮

[–] lividweasel@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

… a success note …

I know this was just a typo/auto-suggest error, but it feels like one of those silly self-censoring things the kids do these days.

[–] forrgott@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 1 day ago

OMG. Yeah, I'm leaving that just the way it is!!

[–] Apytele@sh.itjust.works 2 points 20 hours ago

Fun fact the clinical term is "completed" instead of successful because it doesn't feel right to say a suicide attempt was successful.

[–] ozymandias@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

it was definitely murder:
a. showers don’t have cameras, so people commit violence there
b. very limited time in the showers with guards usually watching or at least nearby….

[–] forrgott@lemmy.sdf.org 7 points 1 day ago

Also, if you actually to want to die, you don't to be found and rescued, so in your cell or somewhere else your gonna not be noticed.

So, yeah. Also, a guy that has all those stolen cards is motivated as hell to run that many cons. Not to mention the way suicide would stain family honor for most oriental cultures.

Etc,etc...

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 1 points 16 hours ago

You just think Epstein also killed himself.

[–] MNByChoice@midwest.social 20 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Some countries make all those involved with one crime responsible for all crimes committed. (For example if one bank robber kills someone during a robbery, all robbers are tried for murder.)

A good society would make those detaining others responsible for what happens to them. (Making all guards and administrators responsible for each death.)

[–] SabinStargem@lemmy.today 12 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I think that if Dogey America loses a civil war, every single member of ICE should be trialed and executed as a class. Ditto for DOGE, 'top men', and Project 2025 backers throughout the regime.

ICE and company shouldn't be allowed to raise a new generation of Confederates & Klanners. It is dickish, but I can't think of a realistic way to remove evil from the hearts of many people.

[–] Azal@pawb.social 6 points 1 day ago

Hahahahaha... we'll do the same thing as the last Civil War, when it's all done we'll go "Whoops, sorry, for healing" and let the sadistic fucks live.

I'm not saying every confederate, but you want to know where the country lost its way? When we didn't hang every confederate officer in a public space until their corpse rotted off the rope and anyone who tried to take down the corpse early got to hang with them.

[–] haloduder@thelemmy.club 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Dang, I was hoping it was a member of ICE itself.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 6 points 1 day ago

Nah, they'd do it at home

But it's going to happen. It was a huge problem with the camp guards and the SS, very few people can live with doing that level of evil for long

[–] UltraMagnus0001@lemmy.world 4 points 17 hours ago

Fake concerns all around until everyone forgets next week

[–] diptchip@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Well that was a roller coaster.
