Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

Seeing this shit every day is what's going to push me over the edge. Nothing is ever going to go back to boring politicians unless we slap these dudes in their bare butt, back, and balls. They'll just keep doing this illegal shit until someone physically stops them.

This just shows how unpopular they know they really are. And hopefully that there is still a chance for a fair election next year... I'm taking all this to mean that they are scared of losing power and what that will mean for their plans so they are doing this desperately sketchy illegal shit.

Hopefully they overplayed their hand, the people will show up to vote and smack them down with a nice 'mandate', and we can start arresting everyone starting at the top.

One problem is there don't seem to be a lot of strong left wing candidates. There's Zohran for NYC mayor, and.... AOC I think is a mixed but on the whole good bag, I think? Sanders is like a million years old, but could be worse.

I hope more than anything that you are right

[–] NocturnalMorning@lemmy.world 17 points 2 days ago

Yeah, pretty much. We're nearing the point of necessity of underground resistance groups...and they'll try to tell you you're a terrorist and so is your group. But, make no mistake, its projection. These asshats in charge right now are the terrorists, and fascist dickwads trying to tear down the entire system we've built over the last 250 years. Stay safe, and try not to get yourself killed.

Decades of a culture of no significant consequences for politicians abusing the system in blatantly anti democratic or corrupt ways have have culminated to politicians doing shit like this in the open without any shame.

The US political culture is an embarrassment now. There is a reason why other countries jail their corrupt politicians.

Non american asking! Isn’t that a republican thing? Isn’t democrats only hated for apathy?

[–] DaddleDew@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Both parties have been abusing this to some degree whenever the electoral ridings have been due for redrawing every 10 years as the population changes. This is the slow slide into tolerance of anti democratic practices I was talking about.

But these adjustments weren't due until 2030. The president asking to redraw political maps 5 years early with openly expressed specific intent to gain more seats for his party is an unprecedented new low. At that point they don't even attempt to provide the illusion of free and fair elections

Republicans are the worst of all people.

Democrats are everyone else

There are some pretty shitty people who aren't the absolute worst of humanity.

I drink a 6 beers a day after work. My brother drinks 12. Which of us has a drinking problem? Just because some is worse than you doesn't mean you are good.

Hank Green on YouTube did a good explanation of this on YouTube a day or two ago if you're interested.

Release the Epstein files

They want this only because it's the most legitimate form of undoing democracy. They have other cards they can and will resort to if the traditional gerrymandering does not work out. They don't have to worry about a January 6th being reprimanded anymore.

[–] spongebue@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

But... I thought this was the most popular administration in history and everyone loves what the Republican-controlled Congress and president are doing, and any poll that says otherwise is fake? Surely they were going to make great gains in the midterms already, something doesn't add up 🤔

So it's gonna be drawing and redrawing each time the govt changes parties after this?

[–] pinheadednightmare@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

And Indiana will let it happen. The only thing that is blue there is Indy. Good luck Indiana… make sure you show up in the polls.

Edit: corrected poles to polls.

[–] BigPotato@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

Leave Poland alone and get to the polls, dammit.

[–] kryptonianCodeMonkey@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Great, my blue vote already gets steamrolled in my hard red district. Let's do the same to others.

Edit: /s, in case that wasn't apparent

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

How about redrawing him with tar and feather?
