Hey, this is a days old post, stop reporting it and discussing whether or not the use of the n-word is okay or not. That is troll bait and I get why you respond once, but stop after that. The people refuting the word were pretty good under the circumstances, so I'm not locking it yet. If I removed your comment, it's so the troll baiting won't work anymore on anyone else.

Edit: Stop reporting the actual post, not the comments in it. I'll go over everything. Always report the kind of crap going on inside the comment section. Sorry about that, I missed a lot.

Dude was also the reason unions in wrestling never went anywhere. So a racist and a fucking union buster sellout. Good riddance.

He ratted out Jesse Ventura to McMahon when Jesse was trying to get his wrestling colleagues to join a union. Source.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 27 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

ventura dint do any favors either, basically he said f you guys your on your own if you dint unionize with me, he only said it because had a backup plan, a union with sag-aftra, so it basically abandoned them, dint care about thier potential fall out. the wrestlers dint have much power it at the time, if the other wrestlers were also actors, they wouldve unionize, most of them were scared to do so.

he also has a history with PETER THIEL too, because thiel bankrolled hogans lawsuit against Gawker, as part of a vendetta for reporting on his business pratices, plus him being gay.

Losing Gawker was a big turning point for the public not having a consistent satirical biting rag news site. Looking back, losing gawker probably contributed to the enshitification of Reddit too with the influx of Gawker commenters. We may never have been able to avoid the current reality but if Gawker was around still it would have certainly been different.

Yeah, after Ventura tried to get them to unionize and Hogan messed it all up, Ventura bailed. He was already unionized as an actor before approaching them, but saw the obvious benefits of a union and wanted them to have the same. If he was really their friend, he would’ve fought harder for them to have what he had.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 5 points 1 week ago

oh yea, i place some of the blame on ventura too, hes the one who started it, he shouldve finished it instead he just ditched them, he was only able to speak from him position, because already was an actor with sag aftra. he shoulve known a lowly wrestler isnt going to have many negotiating positions in a union formation.

I forgot who was trying to organize the union (Ventura??), but Hogan found out and ran to Vince McMahon.

He's right, everyone is a little racist. That's what happens when you're raised in a racist society.

But that shit was really racist

Ozzy dragged Hogan down on his way to Hell to do us all a favor

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Don't put him in hell or it's going to kill the vibe down there. Shove him in heaven with all the other insufferable dicks.

Dude pulled nearly $200,000,000 for charity giving his last concert. If he deserves to be hell, Hogan should be elsewhere.

[–] Bongles@lemmy.zip 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Ozzy would be there because it's metal, Hogan would be there to suffer.

[–] Lyra_Lycan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

Ozzy once played a wise badass in a game about ruling hell, Brütal Legend. This is him now aha

It's not that Ozzy deserves to be in hell. It's because, being the Prince of Darkness, he bought some nice real estate there.

[–] Bane_Killgrind@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 1 week ago

He's one of the ones that can come and go as he pleases

[–] QueenHawlSera@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago

You don't understand, Ozzy Osbourne is not damned, he is there simply because he wants to trip crazy train with Allister Crowley

I guess we're all a little racist.

Cope. Racists simply can't imagine that being a hateful bigot makes them a bad person- so they HAVE to pretend that everyone feels that way but we just keep it quiet.

I had a co-worker who insisted he wasn't racist, but he did hate 'Sand-Nwords'. He said "Everybody hates one group or another". He refused to believe that I hate literally no one in the world because of their race.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, this is straight up “I have a black friend” and citing the wealthy basketball payer as worthy is “You’re one of the good ones.”

Bet if questioned publicly he’d have said he’s not racist.

[–] Wolf@lemmy.today 6 points 1 week ago (6 children)

He tried to walk it back after facing the consequences- who knows if it was genuine or an attempt to salvage his reputation.

"Eight years ago I used offensive language during a conversation. It was unacceptable for me to have used that offensive language; there is no excuse for it; and I apologize for having done it. This is not who I am. I believe very strongly that every person in the world is important and should not be treated differently based on race, gender, orientation, religious beliefs or otherwise. I am disappointed with myself that I used language that is offensive and inconsistent with my own beliefs."

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Sounds like a generic, well-edited apology that we hear far too often from people that usually don’t mean it.

Gawker media died for this post.

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

nothing of value was lost back then either, they kept pushing bs clickbait and calling it journualism

[–] booly@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

BS clickbait is annoying, but it shouldn't be made literally illegal.

[–] GhostedIC@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Gawker was found civilly liable for defamation after publishing details from Hulk Hogan's sex tape. They also published a recording of the quote in the OP, I don't remember if it was from that tape or a separate incident. The size of the judgement against them basically bankrupted the company.

BS clickbait is, for better or worse, still completely legal.

I read a few of those replies... holy crap Twitter sucks

[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 18 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Worse - agreeing with him, or saying it makes them like him better. It seems like an awful mix of edgelords and actual racists.

[–] FartMaster69@lemmy.dbzer0.com 37 points 1 week ago

There is no distinction between the two.

[–] Klause@discuss.tchncs.de 20 points 1 week ago

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago

if you didn't before, now you know why he was campaigning for mango mussolini

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 19 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Remember these things come in threes. Hmmmmmmm... I wonder what other major 80s/90s icons who had reality TV shows come to mind?

I wonder...

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 14 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Didn't we already hit 3? Hogan, Malcom Jamal Warner, and Ozzy.

Chuck Mangione too
