Yeah uuuhh thats the idea. We want the lives of these people to be destroyed.

[–] TheLeadenSea@sh.itjust.works 18 points 21 hours ago (5 children)

As an end goal? I don't want anyone's lives to be destroyed. I do want to prevent harm happening to people, and if people are harmful to society they should be rehabilitated, or if not possible, isolated from society to prevent further harm. However, I don't want anyone to be punished or have their life destroyed just for revenge, or because it seems 'just'. That would just cause further unnecessary harm.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 14 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

You honestly believe that Donald Trump could be rehabilitated?

[–] TheLeadenSea@sh.itjust.works 8 points 19 hours ago

I wasn't talking about specific people. But I don't believe everyone can be rehabilitated. And those who can't, as I said, should be separated from society to prevent them causing harm, not punitively punished or tortured. In terms of harm reduction, it's better not to take revenge on those who have done people harm - even immense harm.

Being on the list would destroy your life by default. You would be exposed. Now, lets be real here. Rich folks, which would be 100% of the list...would get what? Maybe 5 years tops in prison. Then out after 2 years on good behavior or some other bullshit excuse. Lives destroyed? Reputation wise sure, but they would come back eventually. If you're rich, they let you do it, remember?

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 2 points 16 hours ago

Nah, harming child molesters is 100% necessary. They should never have another instant of comfort or joy in their lives after doing that shit.

[–] rock_hand@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago (2 children)

Can you explain further why you think this?

[–] hitmyspot@aussie.zone 11 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

The reason we have a justice system is to prevent mob justice, and revenge. Prisons in many countries are supposed to rehabilitate not punish. The USA justice system seems more about dealing punishment, than preventing crime or keeping society safe. The death penalty is one aspect of that. If it was really about protecting people, those that cut the jobs of the people that could have prevented 100+ deaths in Texas would be in jail. It’s about keeping the poor in place. The Epstein files will be interesting if released, as they will all be wealthy people, hurting children and the vulnerable. There won’t be any motive apart from desires and power. Should they not be punished?

[–] JPAKx4@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 18 hours ago

I agree, but our justice system has clearly failed us. It's extremely frustrating, which is why a lot of us are very emotionally charged for this issue.

I'm a complete hypocrite, as I believe justice should let some criminals walk free if it means no innocents are punished... but I also want the files unleashed. my guess is it's because I know the people in there will be people I won't like, but still extremely hypocritical and logically conflicting with my morals.

[–] TheLeadenSea@sh.itjust.works 10 points 21 hours ago

Because my end goal is preventing harm/suffering.

[–] nickwitha_k@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 12 hours ago

As an end goal?

Fuck no. As an appetizer. Make those that would prey upon the weak and vulnerable afraid to ever leave their beds in the morning, look out their windows, or answer their phones lest they be found for what they are and face an inevitability of being stripped of everything they have and forced to contribute to society or, if they refuse, kept safe somewhere that they can never harm anyone.

Another side of me would prefer something a bit more brutal involving pikes used as public displays to serve as warning to the rest. But, that isn't realistically productive and probably stems from statistically unlikely survival of early childhood experience.

Incredible... first there's an Epstein file with Trump's name on it, then there's no Epstein file, then there is and can destroy lives.

So, 100% he's on it. And I'm sure a lot of his current associates are on it, too.

That said, not only should the release of the file be made public and lives be ruined, but justice must also be swift and harsh for the pedos and the people who stayed hush for pedos.

Sadly, the cult has elected the most corrupt, demented rapist they could find. Nothing resembling ‘justice’ will be had. And the cult will trundle on, unbothered.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 4 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

You know all the disgusting child porn in his records they mention as the reason it's not being released? It's not the children in the videos they're concerned about protecting.

By all appearances, he was being allowed to do what he was doing by multiple governments and administrations because he would honeypot and blackmail people on behalf of those governments. And the government is sitting on that blackmail.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 17 hours ago

so many powerful people are involved. Maxwell isnt giving them up, as she would be epsteined too.

[–] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 21 points 19 hours ago

Donald Trump, the man who was FOUND GUILTY OF RAPE, is OBVIOUSLY NOT on the List and wants to Protect the People on it?

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 16 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

So, during Bil's man-to-man talk, Trump apparently said:

"They maybe had lunch with him or maybe had some correspondence for one thing or another," he added. "If that name gets out, those people are destroyed because there's not going to be any context."

Innocent people thrown into concentration camps in El Salvador and Florida = OK

"Innocent" person has lunch with a pimp, procurer, and pedophile = THEY MUST BE PROTECTED

What a humanitarian 🙄

Melinda Gates didn’t leave her long time hubby for no reason.

and gat started reinventing his own image for the same reason. hiS CHARITY draws more crticisims than praise, which adds to the point hes still disingenuous.

[–] boonhet@sopuli.xyz 1 points 15 hours ago

Yes, lock them all up if they're guilty. Trump, Clinton, Gates...

Trump has literally been convicted for sexually abusing E Jean Carol.

[–] Naich@lemmings.world 4 points 12 hours ago

I'm losing track of whether these files exist or not. Is Friday a file exists day or a "nothing to see here" day?

[–] peregrin5@piefed.social 2 points 12 hours ago
