Yeah uuuhh thats the idea. We want the lives of these people to be destroyed.
As an end goal? I don't want anyone's lives to be destroyed. I do want to prevent harm happening to people, and if people are harmful to society they should be rehabilitated, or if not possible, isolated from society to prevent further harm. However, I don't want anyone to be punished or have their life destroyed just for revenge, or because it seems 'just'. That would just cause further unnecessary harm.
You honestly believe that Donald Trump could be rehabilitated?
I wasn't talking about specific people. But I don't believe everyone can be rehabilitated. And those who can't, as I said, should be separated from society to prevent them causing harm, not punitively punished or tortured. In terms of harm reduction, it's better not to take revenge on those who have done people harm - even immense harm.
Being on the list would destroy your life by default. You would be exposed. Now, lets be real here. Rich folks, which would be 100% of the list...would get what? Maybe 5 years tops in prison. Then out after 2 years on good behavior or some other bullshit excuse. Lives destroyed? Reputation wise sure, but they would come back eventually. If you're rich, they let you do it, remember?
Nah, harming child molesters is 100% necessary. They should never have another instant of comfort or joy in their lives after doing that shit.
Can you explain further why you think this?
The reason we have a justice system is to prevent mob justice, and revenge. Prisons in many countries are supposed to rehabilitate not punish. The USA justice system seems more about dealing punishment, than preventing crime or keeping society safe. The death penalty is one aspect of that. If it was really about protecting people, those that cut the jobs of the people that could have prevented 100+ deaths in Texas would be in jail. It’s about keeping the poor in place. The Epstein files will be interesting if released, as they will all be wealthy people, hurting children and the vulnerable. There won’t be any motive apart from desires and power. Should they not be punished?
I agree, but our justice system has clearly failed us. It's extremely frustrating, which is why a lot of us are very emotionally charged for this issue.
I'm a complete hypocrite, as I believe justice should let some criminals walk free if it means no innocents are punished... but I also want the files unleashed. my guess is it's because I know the people in there will be people I won't like, but still extremely hypocritical and logically conflicting with my morals.
Because my end goal is preventing harm/suffering.
