Trump reportedly angered by intelligence chief’s social media warning against ‘warmongers’ placing the world ‘on the brink of nuclear annihilation’

As he weighs joining Israel’s war against Iran, Donald Trump reportedly finds himself at odds with his Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, with one White House official saying that he has “just been kind of down on her in general” of late.

Trump was recently incensed, according to Politico, by Gabbard’s decision to post a three-minute video on X in the early hours of June 10 in which she warned that “political elite and warmongers” are “carelessly fomenting fear and tensions between nuclear powers,” placing the world “on the brink of nuclear annihilation.”

Trump is said to have been angered by the video, accusing Gabbard of going “off-message” and rebuking her for it in person.

"LISTEN GABBARD! We don't do "reality" here, we do propaganda that serves my goals. Fuck America, fuck the Truth, fuck everything that isn't ME. When you got on the Trump train the name should have told you everything, it's the TRUMP train. We do shows, we do theater, we sell an image. What we don't do is speak truth, only The Truth™©® got it?"

Eh, I wouldn't put Gabbard and truth in one sentence though. Girl has been taking money from Assad at some point, which is like the lowest low.

I didn't think we'd arrive to the Republicans slitting each other's throats so quickly but I'm glad we're here

[–] P1k1e@lemmy.world 32 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Well this is pretty par for the course with TACO, but I will admit, it almost felt like this time the yes men (and women I guess) we're more.... Aggressively loyal. Guess it didn't matter. Donny gonna Don

Well this is pretty par for the course with TACO,

Indeed it is, and I think we're gonna see it get worse. Trump is an abusive parent/partner. There's no "doing the right thing", merely "make sure everyone else is a better target." Yesterday it was Hegseth, today it's Gabbard. Tomorrow... who knows?

Where it gets really interesting is that this behavior can create a perverse incentive for his team to undermine one another.

this behavior can create a perverse incentive for his team to undermine one another.

I'm pretty sure his companies are known for fostering that kind of work environment.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 10 points 6 hours ago

It’s well-documented, yes. We’ve actually done all this before.

[–] manxu@piefed.social 22 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Tulsi Gabbard started life as a Democrat. I am assuming they are going to kick her to the curb because she was a "crypto-Marxist" or something like that.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 6 points 6 hours ago

Like they ever use, or need, a valid reason.

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 12 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

You shouldn't be glad. The getting rid of government scope and distribution is a way to consolidate power with the office of the president.

The various offices in a democracy, the span of government is a kind of hidden balance built into liberal beurocracies. More complicated power distribution, harder to subvert.

Tyrannies tend to be very straight forward and direct in their power distributions.

He's making the ultimate take over easier.

Each office he destroys is one less person who might help depose him.

When you have a dictator you don't need departments. You make all the decisions. Poorly and without care of consequence.

[–] TomMasz@lemmy.world 29 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

It's only June. Of the first* year of his presidency.

*Assuming there are elections in the future. Your mileage may vary.

[–] obvs@lemmy.world 10 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

*And assuming that his presidency goes into a second year.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 5 points 6 hours ago

*That we all make it that far

Yeah he might declare himself emperor or something, who fucking knows

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 4 points 5 hours ago

*fifth year. Just not consecutive.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 22 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Thank god they’re so incompetent.

[–] ZombiFrancis@sh.itjust.works 21 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Competance saved us from nuclear holocaust before. Will its inverse do the same?

[–] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Look at Trump's big military parade. The Army has crack drill teams, expert parachute units, ace helicopter pilots, and dozens of other impressive troops to put on display. No way is the military going to go to war because Donnie is having a tantrum.

[–] WindyRebel@lemmy.world 4 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

I’m not so sure anymore. They aren’t exactly kicking up a fuss about deploying to cities and assisting with detaining Americans. I don’t think they have the sack to say no. Hope they prove me wrong.

Yes, it’s the national guard in my example, but they are still military.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 14 points 6 hours ago

They want to remove that office? Krasnov seriously working overtime here.

[–] obvs@lemmy.world 10 points 7 hours ago

Trump has never been a big fan of intelligence.

[–] xyzzy@lemm.ee 10 points 8 hours ago (2 children)

Anyone in this administration who has any values whatsoever is destined to fail, because the leader they're so obsequious to has none.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 3 points 6 hours ago

Anyone in this administration who’s in it for “values” is the dumbest motherfucker on earth. Which is why almost all of them are tiny-minded grifters, sociopaths, and egomaniacs seeking fame. They’re all loyal to themselves and the façade of the cult they’re in. That’s it.

[–] BakerBagel@midwest.social 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Are you saying Tulsi Gabbard has values?

[–] xyzzy@lemm.ee 2 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

Sure. I dislike her, but she's been vocally anti-interventionist for many years. She hitched her wagon to someone who doesn't actually care about any of it.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 9 points 6 hours ago

He does better without intelligence. His cult does too.

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 8 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Hire Tulsi, see she's a moron, eliminate National intelligence??

Great.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 8 points 6 hours ago

Guess what happens to Health next

[–] athairmor@lemmy.world 8 points 3 hours ago

Pretty sure Gabbard is in Putin’s pocket. Putin doesn’t want Israel to attack Iran.

The people that have Trump’s ear are accelerationists and Dominionists. They want Israel at war with Iran and probably others.

Trump is still a Putin toady but Putin doesn’t have the people in place to whisper into Trump’s ear. He’s under the spell of the Thiels and Voights.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 4 points 7 hours ago

So she created a video that wad about trump and maga destroying the world?

Yeah, I get that Cheeto might fire her for that

[–] just_another_person@lemmy.world 4 points 9 hours ago

[–] ieatpwns@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago

[–] Absaroka@lemmy.world 2 points 3 hours ago

It's almost like hiring completely incompetent people to cabinet positions was a bad idea.

[–] Placebonickname@lemmy.world 2 points 8 hours ago

She caught a complete liar and now when she wants to tell the truth, she’s being punished - I have absolutely no sympathy.
