You can't buy proper crazy. You have to do it yourself.

I prefer a little whimsy.

the problem with decorative towels is that you can't bleach or 90°C wash them, when they get super stained from makeup or blood etc.. well, you can, but afterwards they cease to be your decorative towels 😄

[–] CaptainBlagbird@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I just leave the blood, going for that really haunted look.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

Given I've got Pokemon themed decorative towels, the blood really adds a certain feel to it.

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I didn't think you were supposed to use the decorative towels?

[–] lurch@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 weeks ago

"this is just my decorative appartnent. the one i live in is next door." 😆

[–] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Wtf towels that you aren't supposed to use lmao

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Remember how people used to collect tiny spoons? This is like that. Now it's towels that say "Fuck off kid, mommy's getting plastered" Bonus points if you hang it on a shitty wooden ladder.

Ugh or the tiny decorative soaps shaped like roses that you can't use, they're for decoration only, but your mom got them as a wedding favor in the '80s so the soaps and the little wicker display basket they came in have accumulated a coating of dust that can't be removed unless you use water which rUiNs the sOaPs....

That and doilies. I really hate doilies.

Are you old enough to remember those Barbie dolls that old ladies used to crochet a dress for so you could stand Barbie up in a roll of toilet paper and the dress would get pulled down over it? And the toilet paper was light pink?

[–] klemptor@startrek.website 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Yes indeed! My grandmother had one, but I don't think it was Barbie specifically but a knockoff with dark hair. The doll had a blue dress and so she bought the blue toilet paper. I had completely forgotten about it!

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

My grandma had a padded pink vinyl toilet seat that matched the Barbie and the toilet paper. When you sat on it it slowly squished all the air out. It was an awful feeling.

I remember those too! Oh god I hated those.

Mine had a carpeted bathroom, which is such an obviously bad idea for a room with a bathtub in it, I still can't imagine what they were thinking.

Can't say I do haha

[–] atlien51@lemm.ee 7 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

There’s truth in that tbh. Lot of people are trying really hard to go for a modern minimalistic look

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Several people have described our house as eclectic. Which is the nice way of saying wow that's a lot of random shit that doesn't go together. Wouldn't have it any other way.

[–] atlien51@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

I like that, lol

[–] stray@pawb.social 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm not sure what this person is talking about because I worked the towels area of an American department store not so long ago, and I wanted a lot of those towels because they were great. Maybe they just aren't shopping at the right places.

[–] MutilationWave@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 weeks ago

I have a pink kitchen towel with an image of a woman wrestling an alligator. It says do one thing every day that scares your family. There's so much random shit in our house like animal figurines. It makes no sense and I like it that way.

That was a joke. Don't buy funko pops.

[–] Pipster@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I hear its all about the Labubus these days and for the life of me I cannot understand why

[–] ddash@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I had to look up what that is. Ew.

[–] philodendron90@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 weeks ago

I also had to look it up. I saw headlines about them being pulled from store shelves because people were fighting over them. I definitely do not understand why.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 points 2 weeks ago

Steal Funkopops!

[–] qjkxbmwvz@startrek.website 2 points 2 weeks ago

I just wish they made toddler clothes in my size.

[–] coriza@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

This remembers me of the "Look at my shit" scene from Spring Breakers

[–] TimewornTraveler@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

my identity is conditional upon my possessions, but it's okay, there's a sale. I hope I like what they pick out for me

[–] Kusimulkku@lemm.ee 1 points 2 weeks ago

Why not just buy that stuff if you want it..?

[–] P1nkman@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

We (my wife and I) do this. We have towels in all colours and trinkets all over the house.
