Is…um…did they ask salmon questions about people?
That's ridiculous - what would salmon know about people??
More importantly what would a dead salmon know about people?
Dead, alive.. salmon are wise beyond their state. Maybe it knew who killed it?
According to the fMRI the salmon knew. Draw your own conclusions. Or read the other comments for help.
There's a chemical brothers song that, while not addressing your question straightforwardly, proves that salmon can have meaningful social interactions with humans. I think.

Essentially it's using a dead salmon as a lone control to argue that fMRI studies should be more rigorous in how they control for random noise.
