Hot damn stationary turns me on.

Not that shit though, that’s torture footage.

Pilot G2 best pen ever, unless one ascends to felt tips.

Oh God I hate flair pens with the intensity of a thousand suns. Once they've started to dry out even a little the sound and tactile sensation of writing with them is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

[–] DogEarBookmark@reddthat.com 5 points 18 hours ago

The Flair is a pen that looks like a good time but in practice, not so much

F-701 here, gone through 2 refills and it's still going strong. I have heard that stealing parts of yours might be worth the investment though.

[–] DogEarBookmark@reddthat.com 2 points 15 hours ago

:O i didn't know there was a 701... Consider me $15-less

The Pilot G2 and the Parker Quink Gels are great for refillable pens too! Dry ink is always an annoyance

I can hear and feel this photo and I find it displeasing.

Yup, $15 for a bottle of ink that'll go for a long time. Plus you get to be smug. I got a jinhao 10 pen that's pretty useful .

!fountainpens@lemmy.world

Pretty slow, but there are some of us here.

[–] Earflap@reddthat.com 3 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

I dunno, I bought three pens and four inks that the internet assured me was high quality and none of them are as smooth as my pilot G2 fine tip.

Fountain pens are way cooler though.

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

Nothing is as smooth as a good fountain pen, you are not even supposed to push like you do with a ballpoint pen, just caress the paper...

[–] Abnorc@lemm.ee 2 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

Maybe they're not for you, IDK. I started with a Lamy safari and noodler's ink, and it was pretty smooth. You do have to write a bit differently though.

The pilot G2s are well known for being very good as well.

I'm thinking of going back to nicer gel pens. Fountain pens are great when writing, but filling and cleaning is such a hassle. My favorite is probably the TWSBI VAC 700R since it holds so much ink, and it doesn't need to be filled often at all.

As a lefty I can confidently say fuck all pens. The sharpie gel one I use is alright but ball points just don't work for those of us who push the ball when we write instead of dragging it. It's like every pen I use is out of ink.

[–] timroerstroem@feddit.dk 7 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Turn the page about 45 degrees clockwise, you'll write more straight across the page and the pen will work better because you're not pushing it. Experiment until you find the angle that works best for you.

Additional bonus: No more smudges on your hand/the page.

[–] Abnorc@lemm.ee 2 points 1 hour ago

If writing for a decent amount of time, this is how I do it with fountain pens. They almost feel made for lefties.

[–] ominousdiffusion@lemmy.world 5 points 5 hours ago

More often than not gently heating the tip of the pen with a lighter will revitalise it. It’s worth a shot before throwing it out.

This is how to draw "frustration" for Pictionary.

Uniball eye fine

I've used the same one for 3 years at work and it only just started to run out, so I got another.
