Super Mario World feels like the most Mario game.
Super Mario 64 is my most nostalgic.
Super Mario Odyssey is a masterpiece and imo the overall best Mario game.

- Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
- Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
- Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
- No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
- Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

Super Mario Brothers 3, only because I spent waaaaay too many hours playing it with my friend.
Super Mario World because it was not only fun, but gorgeous. It still is gorgeous, but it was gorgeous then, too.
Same except from the part about friends.
It’s Mario & Luigi for MS-DOS, of course. It’s my favourite because that was the only one I could play at the time.
I was about to date myself and says SM3 for NES but I will bow down to DOS. Winner winner.
odyssey is simply a cut above the rest

It's a tie between Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy! I know some people disliked Sunshine having a seaside setting for most of its levels but to me that was just a part of the appeal. The artstyle and fairly difficult gameplay (don't get me started on that pachinko level!) were charming in their own way, and Galaxy's graphics were just amazing. Galaxy's gameplay was unique with the gravity/planetoid mechanic and a part of the story actually made me cry... Mario Odyssey is good but doesn't come anywhere near as close as Sunshine and Galaxy for me. I still replay both games from time to time!
It might honestly be 3D World on the WiiU. I loved SMW on the snes and all, but SM3DW was the first one to make me smile like I was a kid again. Champions road was just the right difficulty for me.
Paper Mario on the gamecube probably doesn't count, but that was also a lot of fun.
Mario 64. It just feels the best.
I’ve been a Mario Kart fan since the original. I think Double Dash or 7 are my favorite, but 64 was the best Battle experience, thanks especially to Block Fort.
honestly I like luigi better.
Might be a lame answer, but Mario Odyssey for sure (though I've yet to play Galaxy 2). I'm excited for the next Mario but I don't know how they can top the enemy-catching mechanic, it's so creative and made every level truly feel unique.
Super Mario World for the TI-84.
Spent so much time making levels using medit in mirage.
Paper Mario, N64.
TTYD is great as well, but the original just holds a soft spot in my heart.
I have many favorites:
- Super Mario 64 DS, as it's the first Mario game I ever played.
- Super Mario All-Stars, because I prefer the updated graphics and music on the SNES instead of the NES.
- Super Mario World is pretty cool too.
- Super Mario RPG was surprisingly good as well.
- Super Mario Bros. X (fan game) is like NSMB and Super Mario Maker rolled in one.
I don't have many favourite games, but I would like to mention that my first Mario game (or any videogame in general) that I've palyed was Super Mario All-Stars on a Zsnes emulator. I like to think about my gaming evolution since then…
The list of favourites:
Super Mario Sunshine because it felt like an actual world rather than levels and minigames.
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door because of the roleplay elements. It felt a lot more experimental and less restrictive in terms of character designs and personalities.
Luigi’s Mansion because of the ghost collection feature, I really liked touring them in the art gallery area and reading the little blurbs about them.
Mario Paint because of its utility. It was fun to compose little tunes and doodle with it.
Mario Kart DS because of the local co-op. You could race with your friends even if they didn’t have a copy. This is also the only Mario title that has custom emblem maker to my awareness, a feature I really wish they brought back.
Super Princess Peach because the art style was really fun and I liked the idea of saving Mario and Luigi. It has its flaws but I still find it an enjoyable title I revisit from time to time.
